Anyone following the viral Harvard University *Extension School* controversy?

Anonymous
My husband took some HES classes at his employer’s recommendation because they had the content he needed and had worked out well for others in the company. He enjoyed them and learned a lot. Nobody at his company was/is trying to pass them off as “regular” Harvard classes.

Extension schools have a long history of opening up access to students who wouldn’t otherwise have it. They’re not scams. They’re also not the same as the university’s non-extension programs, and people who claim otherwise ARE being dishonest and scammy.

It’s still a Harvard degree. But make no bones about it — it’s not Harvard College. You can’t even transfer INTO Harvard College from HES.

And yet.......he out foxed all of Harvard Corp. How about them apples?

He went to Georgetown. I know you really, really, really wish he'd gone to some random state school but it was GEORGETOWN.

Georgetown is famously an Ivy reject school. And Georgetown rejects end up at UVA UMD and Michigan. It sure seems he ended up pursuing a Harvard extension degree from his couch in Seattle because he sought a SHORTCUT to that Ivy prestige he was denied from twenty years Georgetown. He’s an unimpressive social climbing wannabe.

Except that in the case of Harvard they make it very clear in their website that it’s the same thing. Extension grads are considered Harvard alums! Go congratulate your DH.

Harvard and a few other schools do this. Online and certification things that are available for anyone that pays.

Anyone that brags about this kind of thing is very lame.

And the schools too. Harvard doesn't need the middling revenue. Don't think the reputational cost is really worth the University of Phoenix type associations.

He’s brilliant and he just brought down the president of Harvard and exposed the entire Harvard Corporation for the scam that it is. More to come!

What did you do last week?

Same at my school where I did an MBA. Those who did executive education programs (3 months or longer) show up in our alumni directory online. I don't have a problem with this.

Then your beef is with Harvard itself, right, as they not only allow but promote this, no doubt to bring in more $$

If I get a Harvard or Princeton online degree, damn straight I’m going to use it in any way I can. Why not? It’s bought and paid for!

No, my beef is with Rufo. Since he wants to be so anal retentive about transparency and representation of one’s academic bona fides. HES is Harvard with an asterisk.

It’s fine. Now we just all know.

He was always a con anyway. The whole disingenuous CRT bullshit.

Hell of a grifter.

But sweetheart you see it’s not. Go read the HES website. They are very clear that their alums are considered full fledged Harvard alums.

So sorry this bursts your pretty bubble of what an elite Ivy really is. Speaking of grifting, this school with billions in endowment already will do ANYTHING for another buck.

Good night, poor Harvard! We’ve got your number.

He’s so brilliant he was a middle aged dad who sought out a $40,000 bogus online degree so he could finally call himself an Ivy alum. He personifies the sort of insecure midwit striver losers who seek out these laughing stock programs and then immediately go and misrepresent their credential to deceive people.

NP. OP managed to raise my opinion of Rufo (which is or at least had been very negative). Well done OP. Now I think Rufo might not be as bad as I did before.

Gay is still a plagiarist.
Kind of embarrassing that it took a “midwit striver loser” to point out the emperor’s buck naked bum to the establishment and the world.
Anonymous
Some of you are twisting yourselves in pretzels trying to ridicule “fake” Harvard while simultaneously holding “real” Harvard blameless. Surprise! The same people are running the whole thing!
