She did make a comment at the beginning about how pleased she was that it was warm and that she is usually too cold. We were in action 419 and I agree that it felt about 90F. |

She isn't great in a lot of ways but I still admire her. She is a legend. Like her or not she does things her way and it sucks from one perspective but she is true to who she is in so many ways and I respect her for it. If you know in advance she starts late and it's warm you honestly have to either prep for this or simply don't go but if you criticize her her for it while knowing this is the case I'm not sure this isn't yourself to blame. That's like saying you knew you would pass out if you drank too much and still did it. Do it or not but don't expect something other than reality!
I didn't love her sets. Wishes she played more older fun songs. Thought it was a bit too serious and self centered in terms of giving us just her vision v a good time we would have better enjoyed. Def think the sound could have improved and she def didn't do a lot of dancing. However - she's like 65 so I get it. The choreography rocked as did the execution of the sets. What she did you can tell she worked hard in going well. I get it - she is and has always had a vision and as an artiste, she is going to do it her way so I'm glad I saw it anyway. I'm didn't love it but I'm glad I saw it. Not sure how many more she'll be able to do frankly. I really admire her as a person. |
20:31 (and follow-ups) here. We are in line with your thinking. We liked the choreography. The dancers were great and we thought her singing was fine. Didn’t mind the lights at all. I mean, it’s a Madonna concert right? We enjoyed the “show aspect”. We had no clue she’d start as late as she did and we had looked online to see if there was anyone opening ahead of her. We didn’t see anything so we parked and got to the arena around 7:45. It was unfortunate that we had to leave a couple minutes after midnight in the middle of “I Will Survive” with another 6 songs plus the encore remaining. |

She would never have been as successful as she is if she considered how many fans would approve of her. She's ruthless, committed, irreverent and strong willed. She does this for her and if you come along for the ride you like what she's doing. But don't mistake that for making you happy! LOL. I will give her her credit that she works her ass off which is more than what a lot of others don't do because they don't have to.

I have been to many of her shows and to me, this one felt more personal, and she interacted quite a bit with the audience. Although I may not have loved all the songs, I loved the experience. Even Bob the Drag Queen impressed me. Madonna has been through a lot this year with losing her brother and her illness, yet she still managed to put on this amazing show. I am grateful!

I still have PTSD from her concert about 11 years ago where we waited 2 hours while a meh DJ played (I wonder if it’s the same guy…). I could actually tolerate Madonna’s tardiness if she would bother to get a decent opening act. But I guess that would cut into her share of the $$. Lauryn Hill is also notorious for starting her set 2-3 hours late (with a DJ as the warm up ) which is why I will sadly never attend one of her concerts again.
These ladies don’t seem to understand their audience is 40+, we don’t have the time or energy to stay out all night on a weeknight! |
PP here. My whole point is she does not give a shit about you! It's not that she's a bad person and you can debate the morality I suppose of people like her and au assure you she's not the first. My thing is that in her entire career she has not cared about what people really thought about her. She has cared about specific issues, her platform, what she puts out. She has been so successful because exactly she has been true to who she is. So you really think she's gonna start her show early for you? She's always been who she is and you have to decide on the basis of her work whether you care to experience what she has to offer on her terms. I don't know. I suppose you can say someone who cares would be someone worth supporting more? But it's not who she ever was. I def felt she was less edgy for what it's worth these days. But yeah I'm fine with her how she is warts and all. I'm sure a lot if people are turned off by it but I just don't think she is starting late on purpose to upset you LOL |
Haha! Yes. I’m the PP that posted that about Sexual Chocolate. We are 52. The late night wasn’t an issue for us energy-wise, we just weren’t aware that it would start so late. We would have made different parking arrangements, that’s all. It was obvious that people were starting to leave a little before midnight and our guess was it was because of Metro or garages closing |
| As annoyed as I was with the late start and the temp, both of which I knew prior to walking in, I was still blown away by her performance, especially after she nearly died this summer. I was sort of thinking her tour would mainly be her meandering around stage singing while her back up dancers did a the work, but many of her sets were such complex and intricate choreography. She definitely couldn’t have pulled this together at the last min and she put so much work into this tour. She is still pretty amazing!! |
Is her vision anything other than sex? |
I was at that Madonna concert. She came on around 10:45pm, I was so mad because I had a babysitter who couldn't stay at my house past midnight and it meant I had to leave the concert early. I vowed never again to deal with this BS. She also spent a lot of time at that concert badmouthing Lady Gaga for some reason. |
It's disrespectful to her fans. "Who she is" is mainly possible because of fan support. |
|
She bad mouthed Lady Gaga?
I used to LOVE, LOVE, LOVE her. But she needs to hang it up. I think I have been to at least two Madonna "Farewell Tours" (Cher too). She's a narcissistic B and no matter how much I enjoyed her music in my youth (and hers) I can no longer stand her. Feels like she's trying to compete with Taylor. No comparison. For starters, Taylor has a great voice. |
NP here. That is just it - Madonna was so important to the soundtrack of our youth - I would not want to attend a concert, and have those great memories single handedly demolished by her selfish take on what we should be seeing, and how we should be seeing it. The event does not even sound pleasant, or comfortable or desirable, in any way. At least Taylor and Gaga seem to appreciate their fans - and I am not even a big follower of either of them - but I respect that they respect who pays for their productions - they give the people what they paid for, and then some. For the latter, I know people who attended in Boston this year, during the non stop torrential downpour, and said that it was truly the best concert experience that they ever had. Most were moms taking their kids, and were not Taylor fans themselves, but that everyone tolerated and even enjoyed the pouring rain for Taylor, and that she integrated it into her act quite well. I don't see Madonna doing that - she'd probably cancel! As for Cher, well she was the original, and no way can you tell her age. I don't see her coming out on stage three hours late either. That's just plain rude and inconsiderate, given the cost of concert tickets these days, especially. |
