Grocery inflation is out of control - stores seeing what they can get away with?

Tide not only raised their prices to $24 (!!!) a container, then I couldn't find the scent I use so I bought some generic store brand for $6 for the same size container, it works the same for almost 1/4 the price of the tide, WHICH I CAN'T find anywhere. So I guess I'm winning.

An article came out yesterday about COSTCO raising prices on what most people buy. Calling it a MASSIVE price hike. And don't think the other warehouse stores won't follow suit. Today a 3 pound bag of my cat's food went from $10 to $20. I refuse to starve my cats so I bought the 5 pound bag for $17 at another store. F those people. My loyalty no longer matters. It's like they want to drive the whole country into poverty. As long as our household has social security aka old people welfare, I will not only buy for us but for my family too.
America gives money to every terrorist country but can't help us ? FJB.

I have to admit it's starting to feel a bit worrisome how much food costs have gone up and we don't even have a fancy diet or buy a lot of packaged or processed food. The official rate may be 17% but it feels like a lot more to me and for many items it is definitely a lot more, 50% or more, compared to 2-3 years ago.

You rail on corporate capitalism and then get a Biden dig in? Amazing.

Amazing how you read that in the post. Looks like you have a strong bias of your own.

Two things in the post was true: 1) food costs have gone up a lot. A LOT. And Biden's administration did give billions to Iran.

We pretty much only drink water, coffee, milk and wine. If I was at a party I would grab seltzer water. I rarely see soda at anyone’s home and we come from working class families.

And kids drinking soda? My oldest is only 9, but she’s never had any. I’d never let her order it at a restaurant but it wouldn’t matter- she wants the fancy juices/lemonade/rootbeer instead.

?? Rootbeer is soda.

Doesn't Congress approve this spending? Why aren't they getting the blame???

My 9 year old would never drink soda. She'd order a mocktail instead because she wants to pay extra for the same sugar syrup.

Maybe you should have fewer cats.

I thought cats could catch their own food? There are so many rats in DC there's plenty of food to go around.

I rarely buy sodas but a couple of months ago I grabbed a 12 pack of cokes and it was $13! I put them back. They used to be closer to $6.

We were asked to "just bring sodas" to a recent family gathering. They specified Diet Coke, Regular Coke and "something without caffeine".

We brought fizzy water. Period. I'm not paying that much for a case of chemicals.

Fizzy water is nothing but chemicals.

I mean so is water! H2O

That's why I don't understand why people buy bottles of water. Get it out of the tap, people!!

$10 for 6-pack of Budweiser
No crackers for less than $4-5-6, cookies too
Berries
Lettuce
Hamburger patties
Store baked bread
Gourmet cheese
Deli roast beef
Chips/pretzels

I think the psychology is that people are addicted to easy/convenient/prepared and addicts aren’t price sensitive — look what the pay for packs of cigarettes.

I'm a berry and lettuce addict, you've got me.

If you are buying berries out of season, you're an idiot.

Stop using Tide people. They doubled their prices to pay for the people who are loading up shopping carts of tide and walking out of stores with it. YOU are paying for the thieves.

Stop watching Fox News. You railed on private companies for raising prices, which has zero to do with Biden. Then you talk about giving money to Iran, which is absolutely incorrect. Iran had $6B of their own funds (from oil sales) frozen in foreign banks. We allowed them to access their own funding in part of a larger deal. Your implication from the "can't help us" statement is that this was US taxpayer funding that was sent to Iran, which again is false.

You are the problem. Not Biden.
