You are quoting and coming after someone who clearly agrees with you. That was my point...futsal is great training during the summer/winter months for outdoor players. |
You lost me. |
| Must be a Arlington family, Send it! |
Sascha has moved to Florida. George Hales will head up Arlington Elite Futsal this season. Club has already made that announcement. |
Do you have a link to the announcement?

Futsal in the US is a very interesting subject on many fronts. You cannot deny futsal's development potential at younger ages. From u9-14 futsal should be a part of any high level player's development pathway because you just get so many more touches, have to think faster, solve problems faster, defend faster, just everything...faster. This requires good skill and the game helps develop skills which translate to soccer. However, as the kids get older, bigger, stronger, the game starts becoming more tactical. You're going to see less dribbling and more structured passing and moving to advance the ball. And physical duels at the older ages are a bit more intense and you're not landing on grass or turf but on wood or a hard surface. This is where a prior poster's comment about injuries seem relevant to me.
All of that said, I think the club search should come down to who do you think will teach your child the most about the game that will translate to the field? End of day, the money/end game is not in futsal, it is in soccer. I think you want to look for coaches that have a solid futsal background (and that is rare in our country) as well as a solid background in soccer. Just a fustal background is limiting in my opinion because the translation to the field gets lost. Just a soccer background and they don't know anything about how to actually play futsal (which is a totally different sport). I think In10sity has a good mixture of both and coaches that have done both at a decent level. Alexandria probably has the most infrastructure and teams. I think Magic Futsal is worth taking a look at too. The coach is also a former futsal national team player and played soccer at a high level. Much smaller operation and less teams and options, but the coach knows what he's talking about. Not saying that the others don't (they do too). But it comes down to who is more credible in their methodology and teaching in your mind. But you have to look at what you're using futsal for and match the program to your needs. |
| I will be the naysayer about Alexandria- it is expensive and in several age groups last year- you really only played other Alexandria teams so it was lame. Practices sometimes conflicted with outdoor practice and like the rest of Alexandria soccer- lots of politics involved about teams |
Totally fair point re Alexandria. I agree with this. |
| Which age group? It really depends on the age group. Some club will have stronger age group and if looking at training, practicing with strong players might be good and worth it. Some teams may have better coaching and your kid will be better but just not a strong team in tournament. |
Troll. This is not correct. Outdoor practices ended and futsal picked up. They do not overlap.
|
If you say it's incorrect, your kid isn't playing on top team outdoor. |
Lots of politics as if this isnt in every club? Who has a better futsal program than Alexandria? Since when is anything soccer related not expensive. You get what you pay for |
| FREE MARKETING FOR IN10SITY. They had 200 registered for their TRYOUT. Let's see how many actually shows up. Of course, anyone can just throw out random numbers. |
This is not true. Setting aside the expense (I haven't compared it to other programs, so I can't say whether Alexandra is "expensive" or just on par with other clubs) ... Alexandria futsal practices do not conflict with Alexandria outdoor soccer practice; the futsal program is run by the same team and primarily in the off-season -- there are no schedule conflicts for Alexandria soccer players. (Of course, if your soccer player plays for another club, there might be schedule conflicts but that could be the case with any futsal program.) As for the competition, it may depend on which team your player is on. At the higher-level teams, my kid has occasionally played against another Alexandria team, but also played against plenty of local competition, Virginia state tournaments, and regional tournaments (e.g. Northeast Regional in AC). There are other good futsal programs in our area that may be just as good as Alexandria's programs. But I've seen nothing that would support the argument that any other futsal program is better than Alexandria's. |
Probably most of them since the tryouts aren't free. But seriously, I think you might need another hobby because there has got to be a better use of your time than this obsessive trolling. . . |
