Watched District Dynamo in Orlando and left wishing my kid was on that team...they were phenomenal. False8 is also impressive with their training regimes. Depends on the level/age of the kid at the end of the day.

that is one of the problems of soccer getting propagated to futsal why the need to go to Florida to play a futsal tournament? plenty of local competition it is just that the area is not well organized. If every travel club participated in one futsal league in NOVA (or DC metro) it would be thousand times better for everyone. 0 sense then post photos of U11 trophies. families paying for the trips. it is a crazy FOMO situation in the US. Imagine a local Nova futsal league with divisions for all travel clubs. Now expand that thought to the outdoor soccer as well and eliminate all these variations of EDP/NCSL/ECNLRL/ECNL/CCL/MLSN, etc. The chase for national glory on a huge country at youth level is a killer. Start being serious about regional or national level travel at u17+.

I think we all agree that NOVA and Richmond could create a league for both outdoor and futsal. But that is never gonna happen. We are 100% yoked to clubs/teams being able to make significant money in this country. The futsal club (like the outdoor club) doesn't care about your travel, just that you are willing to pay to go to the United Futsal tournament in Orlando. That is better for the futsal club and their exposure...so they can make more money in the future. Why wouldn't they do it? You are gonna pay for it. Pretty simple...nothing is gonna change.

Agreed, it needs a major revamp from top down to fix it. The current system is all about money going to clubs, to travel agents, to hotels, to equipment makers, etc. Need someone with power who sees it and really wants to fix it. It is really hard for talent to flourish giving how expensive the system is.

We are the needed agents of change...we vote with our dollars. Unfortunately, I am unwilling to hurt my kids development just to prove a point and change things for future generations. So they have me by the unmentionables...and they know it.

Because sooooo many people in the DMV area don’t care about futsal. Many think it’s useless and rather do outdoor soccer. Those FL tournament and other places are all optional. No one need to go but they go because they want to play against teams from other area. Nothing wrong with that if people want to do it and can afford it. If you don’t like it, don’t do it then. Nothing with people who want to and can travel. It’s not for everyone.

I can tell you most kids on my kids team do not care for futsal. Not at any age. And let be honest, rarely you see futsal teams in this area unless they train futsal year round and use futsal techniques. Mostly are outdoor soccer players playing indoor.

Any insight on Arlington Futsal last year?

His name is still on it but I heard he would do more on consulting than coaching the actual teams. Heard good things about the program last year that trainings were good and good coaching staff but not sure about how competitive the team is

I think you might have the wrong idea of who is playing futsal on the top teams around here. They are mostly fantastic outdoor players who are looking for more touches and competition over the summer/winter. So they are actually "rather doing outdoor soccer" but do futsal for additional training and experience. Is this news to you? If you think it's useless then you may not be the best person to speak about soccer and your kids should get other advice.

Tell me you know nothing by staying on this topic. Futsal is a street game. If kids aren't playing pick-up they certainly will not be playing futsal so you have that part right in a way I guess. In the US crazy as it seems, its actually easier to learn soccer by getting fields, a coach, starting a league and recrutiing other players to meet the demands of outdoor soccer, than it is to get a pick-up game going. We have unused basketball courts throughout the cities, wherever there are secondary courts in a rec facolitu it should be converted to futsal, and then the game taught in PE classes. Just doing those two things would create a better footballer.

Yup its useless to be able to creatively manuever out of tough situations on a soccer field. Man I wish there was soccer training that is super fun and conducsive to getting lots of touches in tight spaces and keeping the ball on the floor?
