The post is probably fake.
Between an Apple Watch, iPad and PC you should have enough screens to cover talking to friends, using Snapchat, texting, calling etc. If you’re home you’ll use the iPad for all the social media, communicating with friends etc. when you’re not at home having to rely just on the watch is perfectly fine. If you’re left out, I’m pretty sure it’s not because you don’t have a phone. |

| Some Apple Watches have a cellular radio, so you’d have your own phone number. If the OP watch is wifi only, that would be pretty pointless. You can sync the watch with the iPad to get regular texts and Apple messages on both devices. |
