I Support Adrian Fenty For DC Mayor Because

Someone else suggested that someone was a liar. I've already addressed why it is unlikely that you will find a video, audio or textual report of this meeting. So let's not go over it again.

Yes, but as I'm sure Goose would agree, Bush got to Harvard and Yale based soley because he is a long-term beneficiary of privilege which he did not earn and did not deserve. Specifically, the benefited from his very privileged status, and from his race. Not so with Fenty.

Just can't let it go, can ya? Wow... a sad little life you must lead that even in discussions with someone else you are still demonstrating your obsession with me because of your obvious inferiority.

I'm not obsessed with you, Goose. I just see you as my ally in this particular instance. I thought we had made up. I even considered you my friend. Now my dreams are shattered, as you clearly find me to be obsessive and inferior to you.

And you think my life is sad and little. What if, after Clinton brokered peace between Netanyahu and Arafat, they returned to their respective territories and one called the other names? I mean, really. I had a new-found respect for you -- I reached out to you in an area in which we share common ground -- and you insult me.

This is great. I think you two are really getting somewhere with this. I hope you explore it further.

Wow. I didn't know that the [insert whatever you want here] much poster is also a wanna-be feminist.

I'm a wanna-be feminist because I believe in denouncing misogyny? Is this opposite day?

You're a wanna be feminist because your understanding of feminism is dogmatic, elementary, and exclusive.

No, I believe there are some basic, fundamental principals of feminism. And if you are opposed to those, it is hard to consider one a feminist.

Would you consider my views on Christianity "dogmatic, elementary, and exclusive" if I said that anyone identify as a Christian should believe in Christ? Probably not.

There is a lot of room to disagree within feminism. It is not a monolithic ideology, but there are some core principles, which you seem content to violate or ignore when it suits you.

Let's just be clear... your argument is that it is okay to use misogynistic language against a man who has disagreed and insulted you, with none of that insult related to your gender? You contend that using the term "pussy" is insulting to a man because it implies he is something less than a man, namely a woman. You argued that there is a "right" way to be a man and a "right" way to be a woman. You attempted to back this up as somehow being grounded in your feminist education, yet when questioned on this, you offered nothing to support it.

I realize why it was unlikely. But was the press there or not? If they weren't there, then it'd be nearly impossible for further documentation. If they were, it'd be far more likely that it would be reported, unless it struck them as not particularly newsworthy (which may be a fair assessment or a function of their own bias).

I do. I think you are petty and get your rocks off being deliberately antagonistic on an anonymous internet thread. You are overly sensitive and at the smallest slight, you react wildly and become incapable of dealing with rationally. I think if we were to meet face-to-face, you wouldn't say have of what you said here, not because of anything about my presence, but because of the smallness of your own. You treat people who disagree with you like crap because you can't handle the potential that you are wrong. You are incapable of reflection and just charge ahead with your agenda, which is hardly unique and shows very little original thought.

Either that or you're just a raging bitch. Or both.

Actually, I would certainly take issue with the notion that anyone who identifies themselves as a Christian should believe in Christ. Many people who identify as Christians are not at all certain in their belief in Christ. You'll find them in Unitarian Churches everywhere. I identify as a Jew, and I'm not sure there's a God.

The term "pussy" is insulting to a man because it implies that he is not masculine. Not that being a woman is somehow "less" than being a man. I did not argue that there is one "right" way to be a man, nor one "right" way to be a woman. What I said is that, although I am a feminist, I still think there are legitimate differences between men and women, and I like it that way. Men and women are not equal in all respects.

Again, I do not have to "support" my right to use language in any way that suits me, and still be considered a feminist. What I said is that I have a degree from a feminist women's college and that I minored in feminist theory, and therefore consider myself qualified to speak to feminist issues. I also stated that many of my friends from my feminist women's college enjoy this word play. We find it empowering. If you want to kick me out of the Feminist Club, you will have to find some support for the notion that this kind of word play is an automatic disqualifier. And good luck with that.

Dogmatic much?

Wow. This is unfortunate. Under any other circumstance, you would readily agree that George Bush only got into Harvard and Yale as a result of being a long-term beneficiary of unearned privilege that he did not deserve. Fenty, on the other hand, appears to have gotten into Oberlin on the merits. But since you don't like Fenty, and your political views don't serve your poltical predilictions in this particular instance, you call me a raging bitch.

Gosh. I was really starting to like you. I was hoping we could meet for a cocktail. I think you would like me. If you don't, I'll buy. But, seeing that you are sooo committed to judging someone you don't know with such stridency, it doesn't seem like that's going to happen. Too bad. I know of a bar that makes the BEST cosmopolitans in town.

And if you insult a majority of women, feminist or not, along the way, it's all good? Because you stuck it to the guy who had the nerve to call you out? Well played.

I have no doubt that Fenty's success at Oberlin required far more effort and was more well-deserved and earned than Bush's success at Harvard/Yale. I find it interesting that you are suddenly adopting an argument you so vehemently disagreed with because it suits your agenda.

I did not insult any women. You think I did, but you have not supported your statement.

I did not vehemently disagree with it. I agreed that it applies to some Whites, but not each and every White.

I did see a couple of people with large video cameras walking around. I assume they were with the press, though I can't be certain.

Yes, by golly. I think you have summed her up correctly. Maybe she will now go the fuck away.
