We usually look for Embassy Suites or Doubletrees with separate sleeping areas. My one child is 11 and he takes the sofabed. If we are on a road trip and are just stopping to sleep we get whatever is cheap and convenient.

Nope, too expensive, they can suck it up. Plus there is usually a pull out somewhere that one of them can use if they so choose.
