Oppenheimer - thoughts?

Anonymous

There are many avenues to think about after seeing the movie. I became curious about Klaus Fuchs for example and looked him up (wondering whatever happened). I think the movie does a good job of showing Oppenheimer's frustration and his loyalty to the scientists (and their loyalty to him) despite his flawed character. Scientists are not easy people to manage.

What do you think of the choosing not to show the many women scientists who also worked on the project? This is one of the reasons I refuse to see it.

It did show one. And she was great.

I love her. But hated this particular role, which I don't blame on her.

Nah- both are good. I bet you haven't seen Oppenheimer yet.

DP. I've seen both and fully agree with the PP.

I haven’t seen the movie yet but I’m reading the biography that won the Pulitzer: “Prometheus”

It’s long but really good.

I believe the movie was inspired/based on that book.

But it didn’t feel long at all, fast moving storyline, lots to think about, interesting characters. I’d say worth seeing in a theater bc you’re forced to get off your phone and pay attention and it’s a movie you don’t want to just half watch

I'm totally depressed that some of you would skip it for yourself or your teens just because of some boobs. Half the planet has boobs, my god who cares.

Penny wise, pound foolish. You missed a superb movie.

Oh my goodness 100%
It’s silly Americans are still so embarrassed and uncomfortable by nudity. I took my daughters to see it. They have boobs, I have boobs. They know about sex. Kids see much much worse these days. Tastefully and realistically done, which I appreciated.

Saw it yesterday. It would have made a much better miniseries like Chernobyl on HBO. Just way too much plot, too many "main points." I found it, frankly, tedious and hard to follow and I had trouble understanding the dialogue. By Hour Three I felt like I was losing it. Just too much movie.

Full frontal

Completely unnecessary nudity scenes IMO. And I am not a prude or conservative.

My 20 year old friend (female) did not expect the nudity and sex scenes. She would not have gone to the movie if she had known. She found the sex scenes unnecessary to the plot.

Very unnecessary to have those in the movie. It was too much.
