My kid changes out of the suit right after the last event. The suit is too expensive to hang out in. |
I have to agree. Pinecrest did a great job at divisionals. They had so many volunteers. The pop up tents were a great idea and the spectator area was very shady and well laid out. Thanks a bunch for all your hard work. |
| Most tech suits only last a thousand yards or so until they start losing their effectiveness. Many swimmers wear a different suit for warmups and cool downs. Since it takes 30-45 minutes for girls to put on a well fitting kneeskin, they’ll often wear a practice suit over their tech suit. Depends on how much time they have to change between warmups and their first event. |
Yes. All else was well-run (signage could have been better for spectator entrance and exit vs swimmers) and the parking situation was great! |
I saw that. Can I ask what the purpose is for wearing a practice suit over the tech suit? It still is getting wet and stretched out. |
?? MCSL has a 3 event per swimmer limit (+1 for IM) for all A and divisional meets .(actually rule is total 5 and not all 4 individual events, but you almost never have the same swimmer swim the open medley relay + the end of meet 175 freestyle relay since there's no 15-18 slot in that relay , so its usually easier to think of 3 out of 4 + 1 IM http://mcsl.org/documents/2023-handbook.pdf page 52). For individual all stars the limit is 2 total, I believe including IM |
DP. I only see kids do that so the suit is protected from sitting on concrete and to add drag. Given that the first sign of failure of my kids’ suits was from the areas where they were pulling it on (near waistband), I’ll take the lesser of two evils and tell them to stay in their suits between races. They warm up and cool down in practice suits. |
30-45 minutes is a bit extreme. More like 5-10. Kids aren't spending 30-45 minutes in cabanas at the pool changing. Get real. |
|
The NVSL D1 starter was a mess - icing heat after heat of kids until an 8U finally false started and was walked off deck sobbing. I’m not sure if they replaced the starter or he just got his head right, but it was better after that.
Other than that, Tuckahoe ran a great meet. |
“Icing”? |
The pp is probably referencing the starter giving the “stand” command after “Take your marks” because someone isn’t getting set. |
That’s what they are supposed to do. Otherwise, you have an even worse situation where you made them wait to long. |
Yes, I was thinking this is what the poster meant by icing .. making them hold the ready position too long. |
I assume from this comment your pool regularly volunteers to host? |
PP here. Yes. I agree. |
