How did nyu pull this off? I am genuinely curious. Are they providing a more useful, relevant, or rigorous education? Do they provide better networking events? What have they done?

Columbia destroyed itself by itself by admitting a lot of socially maladjusted kids and those with questionable academic potential.

Stern otoh build up a steady stream of grinder gunners who are killer employees in finance/consulting over the last 15 years.

There’s way more risk on what you will get from a random Columbia kid vs say Dartmouth or Cornell or Penn

Back to stern - if you have a high gpa from stern, everyone knows that said person works their ass off and is intelligent

This is a good summary of how finance and consulting employers see Columbia. The quality of students aiming for the high paying fields is uneven, which gets baked in.

The recruiters are not ignorant of the different schools Columbia has.

If NYU parents are paying what they pay, readers will understand the boosters's need to constantly denigrate others.

Is it worth paying for NYU?

New York University is ranked #2,063 out of 2,223 for value nationwide. Based on our analysis of other colleges at similar price points, we believe New York University is overpriced for the quality education it provides.

Irrelevant. We're talking about Stern. You know Stern's undergrad outcomes are better. Unclear what some random spam site has to do with anything.

This post makes collegefactual look like a joke.

NYU Stern is one of the most valuable undergraduate degrees in the country.

Stern vs Columbia undergraduate are very close, with Stern edging out in finance outcomes. Can't go wrong with either choices. Stern admit rates are below 5%, GL.

The only advantage to Columbia is you can major in whatever and still get target status for IB, whereas with Stern you're a lot more boxed in in terms of your undergrad choices.

Not only, but it is one advantage

No necessarily NYU’s pulling, large chunk of CU graduates are from their general studies. CU had hidden them from rankings metrics but got exposed.

I would say stern for business.

NYU is very sought after. My kid loves NYU. Recently they made tuition free for med school and attracts top notch talent. Business and law schools have always had excellent outcomes for graduates.

I went to Stern - MBA Class of '15. I would prefer my DC go to Columbia. NYU is too big, too cut throat, too jaded, and NYU kids grow up too fast. Columbia seems more relaxed, more gentlemanly, with more opportunity to just read under a tree. A Columbia grad with high grades will be just as competitive as an NYU Stern undergrad.

Columbia is better, even with the recent locked campus/protests debacle/other negatives

If you're talking about recruiting in '25, Stern is considerably better than Columbia.

My personal feeling is that neither school is a healthy place for 18 year olds today. But at least the Columbia students have to read something to get through the Core. A very low bar.

2025 - nyu undergraduate for finance.

Um, Columbia does not have an undergraduate business school. Maybe you should ask is Stern better than Wharton or Dyson? Stern to Columbia College? The answer is no.

I read OP comment to mean Columbia econ vs Stern business, a common question for those interested in finance/business.

Wharton, HYPM are the holy grail. The rest is like splitting hairs nowadays. Cornell, Georgetown , UVa and nyu stern similarly calibrated by employees for business, although people here might give addition boost for overall school prestige.

The post is on Stern, not overall NYU
