| I'm confused, can't that idiot in Canada just declare smoke illegal and it will go away? Someone please call him, this is very upsetting. |
LOL "insider". As if. |
| School is inside. Why would they close?? |
And a laughing stock. |
Some kids aren't chauffeured to and from in moms suburban. |
I live in Silver Spring, in a lower-income neighborhood. There were TONS of kids outside playing tonight. You know what's going to happen tomorrow when MCPS closes schools? Instead of being inside a school building, these kids will all be outside playing. Such a joke. |
Oh, you mean like my kids? Who have no problem walking 3/4 mile to school with a little smog? The advisory means minimize being active outside. Walking 15 minutes to school each way or to the bus stop isn’t going to cause any health concerns for anyone. The schools in NY aren’t closing, are they? |
True. |
Yes, they are closing. |
NY is a lot closer to Quebec than Maryland. The air really wasn't that bad here today in the DMV. Unless it gets worse tomorrow, the kids should be in school. |
Not according to any reputable source. https://portal.311.nyc.gov/article/?kanumber=KA-02522 |
Cite? Two random small school districts is not representative. The city of ny will not close |
Doesn’t matter. They are so checked out anyway, an unused snow day will not make a difference. |
Snow is outside. Why close the schools? |
Agreed. If there are parents who are worried about the smog exposure, they can have their kids wear masks. And tell their kids not to run to the bus stop. Should be fine. |
