Tomorrow’s air quality will be worse than today. Many schools have bad indoor air quality anyway, even with the pandemic era filters.
Schools out west often have days they close or go virtual to protect young lungs. Brain studies also show that —even correcting for HHI and parents’ education— children learn less when there’s high pollution. |
| No, the air quality alert ends tonight at midnight. How do you know it will be "worse tomorrow"? MCPS has already cancelled outdoor activities tomorrow. It's the end of the school year - if you want to keep your kid home, go ahead. Mine is going - I have a job to do. |
| Because you think kids will stay inside if school closes? Yeah right. Kids are probably better off at school. If you are concerned about your child attending their school, then just call in sick. Year is practically over anyway. |
| Wtf?? No |
| OMG. I was waiting for this nonsense. |
It is supposed to get worse tomorrow. - dp |
So keep your kids home. Seems simple enough. |
| I would lose my mind. As an educator the amount of stuff that needs to be done right now, and getting kids caught up with all the last minute things...I'm already drowning. Cannot afford a day off. |
Also, how would staying home help? The air is the same in either place. |
Then why are they ending the warning? |
I have no clue. Either channel 4 or 7 weather folks said it yesterday. |
Link? I can't find anything that says this. |
My kids are out of HS |
OK I literally JUST got a text that they extended it to Friday at midnight, ha. https://weather.com/weather/alerts/localalerts/l/72ecd2854e8d5b272a69e27c3f746035c5ab50e67628144d5384d772b5221309?phenomena=TSL&significance=S&areaid=MDZ504&office=KLWX&etn=0000 |
