PP saying their kids don’t own jeans is not meant to be a flex, or a brag. They are simply answering OP’s question… |
Literally all that the pp said is that her children don't own jeans. How do you derive that she thinks it's a status symbol/flex? Or that jeans are "banished" from her home? Literally she just answered the question with a statement of fact. I think you are projecting! |
Flex? Not bragging that my cheap self bought jeans for my ES kids, only to have them sit in drawers, unworn. So I haven’t made that mistake again. |
| Golf skirts all day, every day. (DD9). They’re cheap. They’re comfy. They wash well. And they look put together. |

My 8 year old wears a uniform to school (which is hard pants or shorts with a button and zipper, gasp) and has one pair of jeans for dress down days at school. He never wears them on the weekend or for other things. But most kids at his school wear them on the occasional no uniform day.
Also, he and all of his friends play soccer, use the playground, and do all other activities in their uniforms during the year. PPs talking about how kids can't run or be active in jeans is just not true. Ok if its not their preference, but it's not true that it can't be done. |
| My 7 year old and 8 year old refuse to wear jeans. Say they are uncomfortable. Wear leggings when it’s cold and skirts/dresses/shorts when the weather is warm. |
| Heck, I barely wear jeans anymore. |
Leggings have elastic waist, no zipper, much better than Jeans. But in fourth grade I bought my dd Jeans. I thought it was time to learn how to button pants and zippers. She like denim cut off shorts but still doesn’t like the waist of Jeans cutting into her middle after years of leggings. |
I love you. Universe, please clone this person. |
| DC wear chinos in navy or khaki year-round. In winter, lined chinos. In summer, around the neighborhood, sometimes chino shorts. We never figured out jeans. |
| My 14 and 16 y/o boys don’t wear jeans and never have. I don’t get it! |
| My son started wearing them in 4th grade, a mix of standard jeans and the super stretchy ones from Stitch Fix. He wears athletic shorts as well. I'm a teacher and the only young children in my class who wear jeans tend to be the kids of recent immigrants (Asia/Middle East), they also wear button up shirts. |
My son wears chinos for his uniform, which he’s fine with. I cannot get this kid to wear jeans. He wears sweatpants or cotton shorts when he’s not in school. |
| 18 yo son in college still does and always has. Sportswear has never interested him. |
| My 10 yo DD will wear Jean shorts and sometimes actual jeans, but prefer the Gap skinny jeans with an elastic waist. But mostly she wears athletic clothes - running shorts or yoga pants with a t shirt. |
