I am not OP but you sound pathetic/depressed/angry dunno. OP is not anywhere close to rich - have you read this thread or the other similar ones on DCUM. Another PP who said people are lying here - I don't think most people are. They are just that wealthy. |
Wow $7M PLUS $4M home? |
This is awesome - nearly $9M. Are you guys Feds? |
What do you mean by 2M pension, a penaion that is equal to 2M in investments? 80K/year? |
|
What ages are you? 57, 60
Net worth? About $7 million HHI? About $380K # of kids? - two adult children, one still in college House Value - $1.1 million |
No, including the primary residence. But the NW number doesn't include future pensions, which have the estimated present value of $2M (depends on how long one can live after the retirement of course). |
Current pension is $80k per year with cost of living adjustment. Started last year—retired military. Currently a GS-13 and DW is an executive director of a state non-profit. |

Ages - 57, 58
House - worth $700k. We owe about $300k on the mortgage. Other Net worth - $400k in retirement and about $3k in checking/savings depending on the time of the month HHI - $140k - our most ever! Kids - 17 and 20, living with us The money is just piles of paper that will evaporate when old age/ill health/dementia enter the stage. |
What kind of private are we talking? A 40k/yr private or a 18k/yr private? Have you fully funded your one kids college assuming they will go to an expensive private or OOS? With todays rates and assuming you put all 700k in equity down you are looking at a 4100/mo mortgage. Let’s assume you are in a mid private school at 30k/yr. The school and mortgage alone chew up 79k of your gross income. Let’s assume your DH is still maxing 401k, gross income is 180k. This leaves you $5400/mo assuming you have No health insurance expenses whatsoever. I think buying this house on that income is dumb. Especially when you have one paid off. |
That's a weird way to tack on $2M onto your net worth. My parent has a World Bank/IMF pension paying out $250K per year (from the days when those pensions were generous). By your math, that pension is worth $6.25M. Throw in their DC-area house and other savings and their net worth is close to $9M? Seems high for a DC worker drone. |
Pathetic that you feel the need to share that. |
|
Net worth $7 million.
Primary resident worth 1.7 million with a $650k mortgage Second home worth $900k with no mortgage Investment (rental) property worth $750k with a $450k mortgage |
Pathetic is exactly the word when I see some posts like yours. You must be desperate financially and otherwise. Feel so sorry for you. |
Do you not understand what net worth means? That would be $7m, including $4m home (minus mortgage debt). |
Such an idiot. Same poster perhaps? Not 9m, $4.1m as declared above. Net worth ALWAYS includes your residence (and if it doesn’t, it’s because you’re doing it wrong). |
