Is Aldie done?

LOL so many people from Arlington and Fairfax out at the farm breweries in Bluemont yesterday.

Yup, all the DC folks hiking and hitting up breweries in Fauquier yesterday. But yup it’s just trash as far as the eye can see out here.

NP. The new houses getting built in places like Aldie look just like the new ones getting built closer in. They are simply less expensive and in some cases lower quality and that’s purely a function of the location and jobs. If people have a nice life there most people IRL wish them only the best, including those who need to live closer in and those who have no interest in living that far out. Personally I’ve never heard anyone express the slightest bit of remorse that their circumstances don’t allow them to live somewhere west of Dulles, but great if it works for you.

I didn’t realize until I moved west of Dulles how much I would love it out here. Even if my office forced everyone back in 5 days a week I wouldn’t move back to the inner suburbs.

It’s the difference between a day trip and a daily trip that matters for many, and the prices reflect that.

Try harder…

Move to Loudon and trade in a quarter acre lot with a luxury home for a half acre builder grade craftsman. Newer but low ranked schools filled with URM and trumpers. All in the name of saving some money due to inventory shortage. We’ll stick to paying millions.

You’ve never been to “Loudoun”. It’s a blue county with highly ranked schools.

I love people who assume “everything that’s not inside the beltway, you must be a Trumper.” people. So obviously clueless and triggered about something.

you’re referring to aldie though. aldie is red. western loudoun is ruby red; yes like trumpy red. the only reason loudoun is kind of blue is because of sterling, which has some of the worst rated schools and high URM. it’s schools are average, no one has ever heard of any of them.

LOL the people out here don't have to make the daily trip to DC. That's just one of many job centers. Most people out here are independently wealthy, have their own business, work from home (increasingly popular since remote working became entrenched) or commute to Tysons, not DC.

Life is much better out here. More space, less traffic, cleaner air, great culture, wineries, breweries, wildlife other than raccoons and squirrels, rolling hills, mountains, etc.

I live in Ashburn. My company is located in Reston. Door to door it’s about 20 mins with the toll road and I go in twice a week. It’s not bad at all.

We haven’t been to DC in months. Just no real reason to unless I want to go see a Wizards game or want a night out to party with friends. With the new silver line metro, I’d just metro into the city if I need to.

thank you for acknowledging loudouns great agricultural economy. my 400 acre farm in lovettesville, alongside the thriving agrarian economy in blueprint, will continue to thrive. god bless loudoun farmers. god bless loudoun county. god bless the commonwealth of virginia.

I live in Purcellville. Looking at buying a lot in the eco village and building a smaller house there. Empty nester so don't need a huge property (which is hard to find out here, but for the towns). One of us commutes to MoCo, so Virginia side of the river near Point of Rocks is our target area.

back when i graduated from loudoun valley back in the day, lovettesville was considered the redneck farm kids who had to milk their cows after school. even to this day i heard valley is more rural town kids, while wood grove is more rural rednecks.

I don’t think keeping data servers up and running would be my idea of the good life, but you do you.

Running is good for you lol. Being fat is not. Not sure what point you’re trying to make.

Aldie is kinda like the Aldi store. Not Balducchi’s (Kalorama, CC), Whole Foods (Arlington, Falls Church, Mclean, Bethesda) or Harris Teeter (Fairfax), but a place where many go and try to sell it as a good idea. After all the closest competition is Lidl (Burke, Silver Spring).

We have Baldaccis in McLean too!

You seem not to understand idioms in American English. Perhaps that is why you ended up in Aldie?

I don't understand why people "closer in" have such a hang-up with people who choose to live further out. Newsflash- not everyone WANTS to live in congested Reston or Tysons. Some people actually want nice-sized lots and could care less about being close to Tysons Corner Mall. I know you want people to think that we spend our days holed up in our homes with nothing to do, but that's not the case. We actually have neighborhoods and communities and plenty of things to do here. We're not worried about you all, so don't worry about us.

Loudoun schools are crap. I know, because my kids go there. Such a mistake.

Honestly, if your kid isn't doing well at Loudoun schools (or any nearby school systems, honestly), then I think you have a different issue. Any smart, disciplined kid from an educated family will do well just about anywhere.
