Is Aldie done?

Actual Aldie the town is really cute.

Is it really so far removed from everything (ie: hospitals, restaurants, movie theaters etc)? Is the metro stop in Ashburn far away from there? We're planning on checking it out this or next weekend but any insight on this?

For the person I knew - the lack of walkable areas was the final straw. There is just nothing without driving.

+1. That’s out in the boonies. Folks who live in eastern loudoun couldn’t afford mclean or great falls, so they chose an average neighborhood with a +30 minute commute. If you really wanted to live in loudoun are republicans in the west.

Lmao as if the Takoma park and silver spring worshippers on here think they can do better. I rather live in Leesburg than Takoma park.

I think most people who live in Takoma Park would be quite happy to live in Leesburg proper or even real Aldie. It’s the big monotonous insta-developments that people don’t like.

I live in Takoma Park and would love to live in Leesburg. I’ve never been to Aldie so I can’t say.

It’s cute, but really small and sleepy. There have been a few little cafes and such but not a whole lot going on. But, you’re close to Middleburg.

I'm the PP you are responding to. I am sure that if I lived in a nice house out there, my kids were happy in the neighborhood and at school, and I had a decent social scene, I'd be happy. I don't understand these people who can only be happy in a city, or in the suburbs, or in the country. I get thinking you can't be happy crammed into a one bedroom apartment with a whole family in NYC. But I don't get thinking that if you leave Bethesda for Leesburg (or Takoma Park for Aldie) you'd feel bereft.

Aldie has nice houses like this one. The issue is how they cram all the houses on top of each other for being farther out.

This is a tiny yard for such a large house. They have so much land out there but they still are cramming houses on top of each other.

My question is why are there never fences with these homes? Does Aldie restrict fencing or something? To me a backyard is useless without a fence.

There is no such thing as Riverbend HS. There is Riverside HS. There is Riverbend MS. They are in completely different parts of Loudoun County.

Why? I hate fences. They rot, lean, fall apart and don't match house to house. Your neighbor puts an ugly one up or asks you to pay to replace one you never wanted in the first place. Yuck.

Unfortunately both people on each side of me have fences.

I get over time they can get a bit weathered but I'm just thinking I'd like a place to be able to allow a dog to run around without fear that they'd get too far away or run off to a dangerous area. Not to mention it's nice to have some privacy and clearly defined space.

Get a vinyl or a metal fence. Problem solved.

I don’t think this is a nice house. I think this is a big, cheap house in an ugly neighborhood that won’t have proper trees for 50 years. I think these houses appeal to a certain type of person when they are new but then to nobody at all when they are 20-50 years old, so the neighborhood will decline because there’s nothing good about it once it’s not new construction.

Not a PP abut I live on a farm in Fauquier so I don’t have to be around people like you.
