| In our neighborhood there are a lot of houses with crazy steep driveways - I wouldn't even bother to look at one of those. |
| Place next door looked like a meth lab |
|
House #1: Main level flooded.
House #2: Reeked of air freshener and skunky weed; was 2 doors down from strip club (visible from backyard). That year there was ONE house that we could afford in DC and we quickly snapped it up. |
| Realtor found cockroaches under the kitchen sink. |
That’s a weird reason to pass on your ideal house (if I understood the title of the thread properly) |
| One kid’s bedroom would have been on the first floor right next to the front door and everyone else would be upstairs. It seemed too vulnerable. |
| Racquetball court in the back |
| Saw a two houses that were either on the lowest point of their streets, or in a kind of bowl compared to their neighbors. Worried about water. One had the sump pump running constantly when we were there, and it hadn't rained recently. No regrets about passing on those. |
you saw snakes when you toured the house?? |
agree - I pass on those as well. |
|
I am looking for a house and have one daughter. She saw a huge spider in the room that would be her bedroom and that was it for her! LOL.
Not that we would make the decision based on a spider - but the house was in somewhat disrepair as well (which was hard to tell from the listing photos). Its amazing how the photos can misrepresent what its really like. |
|
House #1: Too much noise from the adjacent highway
House #2: Spied several bugs crawling around various rooms during the tour House #3 (townhouse): Mosquitoes! We met the realtor to take a tour, and I got bitten by about 15 mosquitoes before I even stepped through the front door. That suggested drainage/standing water problems on the property. |
Guess we saw the same house .. exact reason why I said no |
| Goose droppings in backyard! |
I laughed. And will now be thinking about who else has sat in my bathtub. |
