Holton Arms v Stone Ridge

My daughter felt that the girls at Holton felt robotic and didn’t seem happy. She thought the girls at SR seemed happier and livelier. She got in to both and chose SR.
Go on tours and visiting days and go with what your DD feels is best.

Our child told us it felt really 'corporate' to her and chose a different school. We weren't totally sure if she meant the decor or culture, but we just thought that was a funny take! Anyway, the girls we know are happy there, and the girls like ours who chose to go elsewhere are happy too. I'm not sure about the insecurity on this thread.

I can see that. The reception area and event room nearby are fairly cold architecturally and stuffy and could prejudice one's viewpoint for the rest of the visit. The classroom areas don't feel that way.

Yes, I agree with you. I thought the classrooms were light and bright, and areas for music, dance, athletics etc were really nice. We just thought her comment was funny. I don't think she meant Dunder Mifflin Corporate, more like Marriott? The girls we know are happy at both!

Not much. The cool girls are mostly pretty, skinny and athletic. Deviance is not celebrated.

CRT and radical gender ideology is religious indoctrination. So stay away from Holton if you want to avoid those ideologies.

SR parent here ... I truly hope all kinds of girls are 'cool'. To each their own.

Not surprising, since they're a Holton family!

That's not the real world...some people are wealthy and some poor, some are athletic and some not, some are high IQ and some are not...not everyone is cool.

From what I have seen, the benefit of an all girls school is that all kinds of girls feel seen, supported and loved, and can find friendship and fulfillment. I certainly hope that is the message being imparted at Holton and SR.

I think Holton has a more diverse across the board community. SR is very tied up in the country club crowd. Holton has a mix of girls.

This exactly is why my DD is at Holton.

The stepford wives are at SR.

SR dad here. SR girls are by and large lovely individuals. There are certainly a cadre of "popular" girls who, like everywhere, are pretty and dress well. That doesn't make them mean. There are also nerds, lesbians, D&D players, hockey players, religious girls, irreligious girls, swimmers, and academic stars. There are certainly rich country club girls--there are everywhere. So what? And yes, it's a Catholic School. But no, they don't indoctrinate... or at least they're not effective at it. I think it's a morally grounded, academically oriented school with above average athletics. The girls coming out of there are generally grounded, driven, social action oriented, and nice.

This is a pretty naive view.
