Holton Arms v Stone Ridge

Go to the one that’s closer to your house or has an easy bussing solution.

I worked at both schools. SR has the edge in my opinion. Holton is excellent but SR has my vote

Holton has a far better reputation. Call a spade a spade. Most parents applying to the top schools would not apply to SR. Ever. And that gives Holton a clear advantage in terms of applicant population. Arguing about this is asinine.

Far better reputation in what context? Amongst what group? How do you know most parents wouldn’t apply to SR? The fact that you are making this statement with certainty is what’s asinine, IMO.

Come on. This is like a dumb game of chicken.

If you are super liberal choose Holton.

I know it's just one measure, but Holton did a lot better than SR when it came to national merit scholars this year:

I have no idea if this is true, but we applied to many DMV girls' schools and chose SR. I'm sure other people have done the same and chosen Holton. If you are not committed to secular or Catholic, it's likely that people apply to both (and others) and then make their decision. Besides being all girls, they're different in a few ways. The girls we know are happy at both, which is a good thing!

Holton hands down. Not even in the same league.

Our child told us it felt really 'corporate' to her and chose a different school. We weren't totally sure if she meant the decor or culture, but we just thought that was a funny take! Anyway, the girls we know are happy there, and the girls like ours who chose to go elsewhere are happy too. I'm not sure about the insecurity on this thread.

Holton endorses radical gender ideology. At SR a woman is a woman and a man is a man. That simple.

Actually that’s not correct at SR currently. A lot of fluidity there.

Well, do you want religious indoctrination or not? That is a big difference.

My DD graduated from Holton recently. Definitely NOT LIBERAL environment. At times we found it frustratingly conservative TBH. But it was a top notch education no question.

Choose your poison, I guess.

Religions indoctrination at one versus indoctrination in Secular Humanism / contemporary Liberalism at the other.
