Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
Thanks for stating the obvious? |
What about those that live next to Blair but zoned for Northwood |
They're in the Northwood walk zone. |
So it either cross the street to go to Blair or walk 1.5 miles to Northwood. Yes I know the exact distance since I use it as a running route all the time. |
Disagree. Crown is opening much later, and there are development plans which may change the makeup of the area. |
When you have urban density, walk zones overlap. Other factors can then rise above that one. |
| Which parts of Kennedy's boundary could be impacted by these new schools? |
It should. Some neighborhoods that are zoned for other clusters are actually closer to Churchill, or equidistant or just over 1 mi difference. |
Blair is an unusual case since it was originally in DTSS and there are no other HS in SE moco. |
IMO, it's not a waste of time. It's passed time they did this. It's ridiculous to have under enrolled schools adjacent to over enrolled schools, and then keep expanding the over enrolled schools. Now that's a waste of money. |
Yes. They are in the walk zone for Northwood; they would also be in the walk zone for Blair. |
Blair's new location and its boundary are not related. |
DP.. we live 1 mile walking distance to one HS, but zoned for another that is 2.3 miles walking distance, so the kids have to take a bus. We will be part of the Crown HS rezoning. It will be interesting to see if they make all neighborhoods within the walk zone but currently bused back to walk zone even if makes the the schools less diverse. |
To clarify: Blair moved to its "new location" in 1998. |
True. And its current boundaries were drawn in 2004 when Northwood reopened. |
