Wheaton HS unjustly punished

That coach knew it wasn't just going to be on him that's bs. We see kids with bad grades cost teams playoff spots. In that case yiu might not know as a teammate what Timmy is doing. However a kid that doesn't go to your school you know. I also don't get the moronic comment "so we're teaching kids to snitch?" That person obviously doesn't know what switching is.

The entire team doesn’t forfeit because one kid is failing. The others still get to play.

Minors are not supposed to learn, know, memorize, or follow MCPS rules for sports. Give me a break. It is not their job. It is administration and the coaches.

Sure they are...

Ah...connecting the dots...so the kids DID expose the coach, and the coach's buddy the principal retaliated against the students!
Now it all makes sense!

OMG, read. It was the county that determined the punishment. The principal appealed the sanction and lost.

Why are you contradicting my false narrative with facts!?! It's so annoying.

So if a peer is bullying a student and 10 others don’t report what they saw, they should all be expelled?

No but they should be required to participate in a restorative justice circle.

That's not even analogous. This was a coaching decision. I don't think the kids had any say and likely had no idea what was allowable. The kid that participated was not some ringer and not expected to win. So, it wouldn't have been some "moral dilemma" for the kids. Their coach made a decision.

The kids were not in charge and are never privy to the private student records of other students. They don’t have the information or power in this matter.

I don’t know what I think about the punishment. But I don’t, for a minute, believe the kids didn’t know that the kids who were not qualified to wrestle did not go to Wheaton.

Just like it's not on people to report undocumented immigrants to the authorities, it's not on kids to report on non-mcps kids to the authorities. That call is up to the coach.

It's not that people are saying that the kids are totally innocent.

It's that the punishment is disproportionate to the offense

Instead of being upset about the consequence(s). Be upset that the coach cared so little about his team.
