NP I don’t think there was ever any implied threat about R’s taking over. The point was that they cannot handle being in a vibrant and diverse city because sometimes that comes with petty crime. So if petty crime is causing them to flee then that’s a feature not a bug. No one seriously believes R’s will move in in sufficient numbers and pose a threat when it comes to elected officials. This is all just beyond parody. No one cares about petty crimes. Everyone understands that comes with the territory. What we're talking about is violent crimes -- homicides, rapes, assaults with dangerous weapons. Those are up 50 percent in one year. Also, not only are there virtually no Republicans in this city to begin with, but there's no evidence that crime is disproportionately pushing them out. This is all just the weird fevered dreams of the young, liberal and stupid.
