If you've been all of the world then you probably recognize that there's not much else to unite very different groups of people together. Civic nationalism is the glue that holds very different groups together in this country.

+1, it's easier to stay united when a country is 95%+ one ethnic/racial group with a long shared cultural history. The United States is an amalgamation of different peoples through different times. It's important to remind everyone what *is* shared between the people of this nation of mostly recent-generation immigrants: the promise of individual liberty and pursuit of happiness under the rule of law.

No, that poster said stars and bars, which is the confederate flag. They’re proud of flying the flag of treason for the side that tried to destroy the USA so they could keep owning other human beings.

Not some fiction you learned in your history classes in high school. Read the actual documents.
