Trap neighbors' cats and send them to the pound? Sick and tired of cats s****ing in our yard

Clearly you are no Jack Burns.

Whether it’s easy or not, just know: some of us have a visceral hatred for these rodents. As Richie Aprile said to Chris Moltisanti: just give me a reason.

What on earth are you talking about? Cats aren't rodents. And your old people references don't mean anything to me. Go lie down and have a nice cup of tea you seem riled up and that always worked on my grandparents

DP. LOL The Sopranos was a huge hit among millennials during the COVID lockdown, it was an actual phenomenon.

Get with the times, Granny. And play with your damn cat instead of letting it poop all over the neighborhood. People like you shouldn’t be allowed to own pets.

Cats are rodents and your apartment is gross and stinks. You have disgusting hair all over your clothes when you go to work. Nobody likes you.

+1. And take down that picture of Fluffy on your desk if you ever want a promotion—the boss thinks you’re nuts, too.

If you can’t handle cats, dogs, mice, snakes, rabbits, raccoons, foxes, squirrels and birds in your yard then you’re not ready for the ‘burbs. Just move downtown where the wanderers are rats and humans.

Some of these things are not like the others. Cats and dogs are not native to North America. Your free-ranging cat is an ecological disaster. And are you seriously arguing that dogs should be allowed to roam free through our neighborhoods? You’ve lost it, cat lady.

And cat poop can carry toxoplasma. Toxoplasma gondii makes humans take more risks and leads to rage issues. https://www.livescience.com/can-cat-parasites-control-human-brains.html

T. gondii also increases the risk of schizophrenia in humans. https://www.livescience.com/56529-strange-facts-ab...is-alters-the-brain/a-46222116

Ya know, repeatedly insulting people with bad science and equally bad logic just isn’t working out for you.

1. Outdoor cats are an ecological blight and also annoying to neighbors.
2. I think OP has a fox problem not a cat problem. They should get motion activated sprinklers/lights/cameras, regardless.

It is not illegal to trap and take cats to the shelter if they’re on your property. I’ve done it in Fairfax. I have dogs and a neighbor’s cat was constantly in my yard, pooping on the deck and digging in my planter boxes. My dogs chased the cat several times, I asked the owner to please keep it out of my yard (I.e. in her house) but she said she couldn’t. I didn’t want to be responsible for dead kitty, so I trapped it and took it to the shelter.

It is not my job to be responsible for your pets.

Anonymous wrote:All you people threatening OP with criminal charges for trapping her neighbor’s cats are wrong, at least in MoCo. Don’t know about DC or VA counties, but wouldn’t be surprised if they are similar.

In MoCo, roaming house cats must be spayed, can’t “trespass” onto a neighbor’s yard without the neighbor’s permission (MoCo Code Chapter 5 Sec 5-203(a)(3), and can’t poop outside the cat owner’s own property (Sec 5-203(a)(2).

Also, MoCo will loan humane traps to people dealing with nuisance situations.

So, OP, depending on where you live, the law may be on your side.

I say go for it, OP.

The motion activated sprinklers would be a good idea for sure

And give your neighbor the bill.

Who in their right damn mind let's their cat run around outside? Thanks for killing all of the birds.

This is so laughable. In my lifetime I've seen almost all the trees in this area cut down. I've seen all the insects killed with insecticides. I wonder if there are any worms left to eat under that manicured grass. There were literally so many bugs in the air that people cleaned their windshields with every tank of gas. (Ever wonder why there are squeegees at every gas station???) Now there are literally none.

If anything, more cats are kept indoors than when I was a kid. This is such laughable nonsense that cats are decimating birds. Human beings are.

I have an exclusively indoor cat BTW.

Science disagrees with you. Cats are the second leading cause of bird mortality after habitat loss. Cats kill 1.3-4 billion birds and 6.3-22.3 billion mammals annually. Scientific studies back this up. https://www.nature.com/articles/ncomms2380
Ha ha. You can always count on someone to post a link on why cats should be kept indoors.

Ha ha. You can always count on someone to resent that science is being brought into the conversation. Ha ha not funny. Do you deny climate change too?

I always think to myself "Wait for it, some eco warrior has a link that they're going to post".

I'm fairly sure that with a bit of research, I too could find links from someone on the internet saying that it's OK to let cats outside, but I have better things to do. Besides, I moved to Nevada a few years ago where there are hardly any cats but yet I don't see birds all over the place. So your links don't mean that much to me.

100%

My friends with cats have homes that smell like cat pee. They don't smell it because they're nose-blind to it. You have to be out of your house for 3 days for you to even smell what your house actually smells like to visitors.

I love cats but I'd never have a cat because I hate litter boxes and the cat pee smell.

I don't usually notice a dog smell at a friend's house unless it's raining or has been raining. Then I get a whiff of that wet dog smell, ick.

And yet you probably use Febreeze, which is just as disgusting as cat pee. Might as well have a loving pet for all the stink.

That's just stupid. I've had this argument with an ornithologist, too. The craziest thing is completely ignoring that we have systematically killed their food supply and their habitat, and at the same time made laws making outdoor cats illegal. And yet cats are to blame based on "scientific studies" of the outdoors. So, so absurd. When I was a kid there was a plethora of insects and also hundreds upon hundred of birds in the skies every fall up and down Rockville Pike, gathering to migrate. Now there are zero insects, no trees on the pike, a dozen or so birds gathering in the fall, and most cats are indoor cats. Cats are NOT to blame for this. That's just common sense. You can't study the entire outdoors. So stupid.
