We also bought a home at the top of our price range to ensure he is in the best public school district for elementary school.

Your turn! It doesn’t have to be education related.

Are you for real? Is this a joke?

There’s only one correct answer: I gave him all his vaccines in the prescribed schedule.

Wow! Excelling in kindergarten! Now that’s something to brag about.

When public schools were closed, he learned to read.

Neat! Here’s your cookie.

Anything over 6’3” is awkwardly tall

Yeah, 6’ 6” is definitely not something to brag about, unless in some infinitesimally small likelihood, he’s one of the few hundred people on the planet with enough innate basketball talent to be in the NBA.

I learned to read at four, before I ever started kindergarten (and yes, really read, not just memorize).

OP, your child is behind!

Lol, I taught my recently-turned 4 yo how to read when covid closed her half-day, 3x per week church preschool. She read Dahl's Matilda at age 4 by herself.

Give me something I can actually work with, lady.

Nevermind, your kid is going to need all the help he can get. Carry on.

Translation: you did nothing.

Ugh that was my point.

My point is that 6’6” is not an advantage.

+1. Teaching growth mindset, resiliency, and kindness.

We want our kids to be thoughtful and helpful because it’s the right thing. But kids rated as helpful by their teachers end up going on to earn more (at least, according to Adam Grant’s IG posts, lol)

They don't have one shot. You are buying opportunities for your kid. He may learn someone needs to give him opportunities as opposed to making them himself. Lots if slacker kids with attitudes in the best schools. Teach your son endurance.

I claim my mistakes. I’m learning to repattern the reactive triggers I grew up with and repair when I’m imperfect.
