Why do people call themselves European? Why not just say you are Belgian or Swedish or Spanish or Polish? It’s almost like you’re trying “flex” because you think “European” sounds more worldly. |
The problem is you needed to have started in your 30s. Building muscle mass and enduring habits of nutrition and exercise in your 30s is so critical for getting through your 40s/50s/60s in good shape and with a strong baseline of health. It’s hard to try and start doing that at 47 when you’re fighting age and natural changes in your body |
Lol - I’ve been an athlete since my teens. I’ve long eaten a healthy diet, don’t binge or drink to excess, etc. What if you have been doing all the right things all along? Hormones will still get you, apparently. |
Eating dinner as early as possible and going for a good brisk walk after dinner has helped me tremendously.
Family dinners make this more difficult- we have teenage boys and my DH wants every meal to be Sunday dinner at grandmas house (bless his heart) but my slowing metabolism just can’t do it. I can’t eat like a teenage boy! |
Not easy, OP. I walk about 8 hours a day at work. I love fruits, veggies, meat. I eat small salads with little dressing and I stop eating the minute I start feeling full. I don't drink sugary drinks and maybe 1-2 alcoholic drinks a week. This all allows me to maintain my weight which is 165 at 5'7".
I have horrible genes from both sides of parents. My body collected 50 pounds of weight (including the baby) during both of my pregnancies to start producing milk I guess. I was dry as a desert once the kids came out. The pounds stayed with me. I need to lose appetite, shrink my stomach and consume under 1200 calories while still walking 8 hours a day to see any pounds shed. The hot weather helps with curving the appetite right now. Not easy at all. |
No, its because I don't want to be identified as the "Brit" or the "French lady" who may be posting elsewhere on here. It's a privacy issue but yes, as a side note - of course we're more worldly, because its easy to move around in Europe cheaply and quickly. Obviously. |
Get rid of ranch and cheese, tomatoes have too much sugar. Use vinegar for dressing |
Yes, Americans eat too much sugar, but you have completely lost the plot if you are talking disparagingly about the sugar in tomatoes. |
I think it’s ends up coming off as close minded and like you are failing to recognize the diversity that is Europe. Ragusa is Europe. Lviv is Europe. Cork is Europe. People in those cities (much less the small towns) don’t eat like Parisians and most of them aren’t jetting around Europe. You sound like one of those New Yorkers that thinks everyone lives like they do in Manhattan. People in the European towns my grandparents and great-grandparents came from actually probably eat more simple carbs and less fresh veg than I do. |
Yes, this person is crazy. Nobody is overdosing on sugar through tomatoes. What a world. |
I am 5'1", fit, and consume a lot more than 1200 calories a day. Lift weights vs. cardio. |
Hard boiled eggs Handful of nuts Cheese and crackers Carrots and almond butter Almond butter pretzels Fruit and low fat cottage cheese Yogurt and granola |
This is crap advice. Don’t listen. It’s never too late to make changes. Every day is an opportunity. |
Too much dairy not enough green veggies, and no low fat (naturally low fat) protein like fish This is a disgusting diet |
This is not a diet but a list of healthy on the go snacks suggested by Noom as alternatives to a breakfast bar. Not eaten all at once, moron. |
