How much to tip at Top Golf?

Anonymous
For example, if Top Golf is open one night, and no one shows up to play - they only pay their workers $2 an hour.

Not true. If tips + base pay do not equal minimum wage, then the employer needs to make up the difference to pay the employee the federal (or local, if higher) minimum wage.

Tip on the food should be $20.

Depends upon the quality of the service.

I got a receipt that had a total of $600 with a place to add tip and then to sum it up.

I was at top golf last night and the manager said most people tip on the entire bill. We tipped on food and drinks.

Proof?

Hell No, just 15% on the tip. They get good wages there.

This is ridiculous. I am not tipping anywhere like that. They should find another job if they want that much tips.

Someone showed me attitude once and I complained to get my whole check credited back to me. Report the bad attitude.

Just want to chime in that my sister also almost tipped on the full about (golf and food/beverages). The way the recipe is laid out it’s all combined into a total then the tip line. I caught it when she told me how much my half was and we reworked the tip. We had about $90 of food (three apps, two beers and 3 sodas) and $150 of golf. We tipped $20 instead of $50

Let employer figure it out or pay more. they charge enough anyway. I would pay $30 and walk away.

Ok so if you get chipotle style food at a non chain restaurant, how much do you tip? Let’s say for a family of 6 it’s $100? Making it up to make it easy. Or my two coffees black no milk no sugar are 10, I refuse to tip on that.

For a counter service meal, I leave $5. Nothing on coffees/donuts.

My DS worked last summer at mid/upscale restaurant as server. He had to tip out the runners 5% total bill and bartenders 15% drink bill. So if you stuffed him, he actually lost money. It was a good gig and he made pretty good money but his impression was the folks that he thought wouldn’t tip because they didn’t like food or food took too long, usually still tipped. He said he could tell when someone sat down if they were going to be cheap-more about them than service. He said lots of people left 30%, which btw, I never do.
