Not the PP but it’s not a huge school. I think there are what 20 Jefferson scholars? |
Economics is not the same thing as personal finance. More importantly, this decision is not about which is cheaper. My DC is on an Ivy waitlist. I beg you to go to UVA. More room for us. |
+1 |
Prestigious or not, you don't have a choice but to put it on the resume and explain it in order to match the Harvard name. Vast majority of lay people have no idea what a Jefferson scholarship is. |
It’s one of the most prestigious scholarships in the US. Google it |
Employers care very little about where there applicants went to college..... https://chronicle-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/5/items/biz/pdf/Employers%20Survey.pdf see page 27 |
You're entitled to your (misguided) opinion. Many of us, if presented with someone who chose to spend over $300k on a product when they could have one that would perform equally well for free, would think THAT person was an idiot. |
The fact that you need to, is the issue. |
OP ran away |
No, just reading all the comments with my popcorn ![]() |
If your only calculus is to choose the more prestigious name, that’s pathetic. There are a LOT of circumstance that would make UVA the better choice. Also, there is no “us” going to college. Let your kid make their own choices. |
No, I know what it is. Apparently you or PP doesn’t. |
That’s not even close. UVA. |
"Hmmm, UVA...Jefferson. Jefferson. Interesting. Honey, do you know if George Jefferson went to UVA and bequeathed money?" Folks that are not able to make that connection are idiots and can't imagine the work place of someone who would fail at that. |
I agree, I hire high level people (200K+) and I have never heard of a jefferson scholarship until my child was a senior at a VA school. Go to Harvard unless you will be in debt forever. Its major league/minor league. Both good. |
