You don’t have to drive through Alexandria to commute from del Ray. That’s the beauty of it. Near Arlington/Alexandria border. My commute to penn quarter is 20 minutes door to desk without traffic. Even with pre pandemic traffic it was usually 30 to 40 at rush hour. |
That's appalling. I'm sorry it happened to your daughter. |
Forgot to say that neither day was the day with the accident on the WW Bridge. Obviously that would louse up traffic. |

We saw this house before it sold. It was really nice but the yard was a bit small and no front porch. We got the sense it would sell for well above ask so we didn't even try.
But we did see this house and loved it: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/302-E-Luray-Ave-Alexandria-VA-22301/192127311_zpid/ The only reason we didn't go after it hard was because it backs onto what seems to be a carpet factory--and that building's ventilation system is literally right behind this house. As that's not something we could fix, we passed. But gosh the place was so nicely done and on a great lot. Wonder how high it went for. I think we made the right choice, but still kills me because so few SFHs in the neighborhood come to market. |
PP seems to confuse the Del Ray family sports bar seen with New Orleans. No one is off puking in the bushes when DRP closes at 11pm. Jeesh. |
Wait a second. You're complaining about the commute from a far upper NW private school to South Old Town to Rosemont commute taking an hour at rush hour? That's on you for poor planning.. There's no where in this entire region you could live and not encounter that sort of traffic at certain times. |
What? Where did you get that? RIF. The drive from National Airport to Faccia Luna was an hour. That's all attributable to Alexandria. Jeez. No wonder you like Del Ray. |
Try writing clearly next time. You started your story with school pick up in DC. And traffic is certainly not "attributable to Alexandria." |
??? What time? I drove from st. Elmo’s to Logan circle pre pandemic and it ranged from 30-50. |
Pretty much 8 on the dot. I drop my daughters at MVCS, take a right on Glebe, a left on RT1, veer off to 110, take Memorial Bridge over the river, a left up 23rd and voila, at Washington Circle. It's a piece of cake. Granted it's Sunday morning but Google says it's 17 minutes right now. |
Learn to read:
Jeez. Talk about deliberately obtuse and willfully ignorant. I concede that I could have been more clear that the one hour was from National Airport to the restaurant. Getting in and out of DC is a breeze. Alexandria, NOT. |
Is Redfin or Zillow buying houses in big cities to exaggerate crazy demand?
|
I mean, sure, on a Sunday. And maybe pandemic times. But pre pandemic, it was 30-50 plus leaving at 9, every day. |
No. It wasn't. I've been doing this commute for 11 years. Twenty minutes. |
During the week between 7 am and 10 am on a regular work day? Highly doubtful. Even if you started at the end by MOMs or RTs you can't even get through Crystal City or onto 395 or the Parkway in 15 minutes from Del Ray, let alone get all the way to Logan Circle in a total of 20 minutes. I mean, if you're gonna lie then at least try to be believable. |
