Large Recall of Children's OTC Meds, including Motrin, Tylenol, Benedryl, Zyrtec.

I still stand by my posts. They were not "most certainly rude". I didn't yell and scream at any parents telling them they were idiots. I don't even think that at all. I get that we all do what's best for our kids.

I also get that it's incredibly difficult to be a parent. And, drug companies make it even more difficult when they market products as risk-free cure-alls.

You may feel that this thread is an inappropriate place to discuss that, but that's your opinion. I think it's the perfect place to demonstrate that there are RISKS to overusing drugs of any kind.

Of course I believe that the companies are at fault. That's why I repeatedly reminded people that they are in business to make a profit.

You're sounding overly defensive and testy.

Yeah, but that's not what you did, though, did you? You just gave a short, non-informative "tsk tsk" type post chiding everyone for overusing drugs. Not helpful. So it wasn't where you made the argument, exactly, but the clumsy and sophomoric way you made it. Came off like gloating. Something tells me you're happy when a drug recall like this "proves" your point. But it doesn't, really. Tylenol and motrin, etc, may have their risks, but this recall really doesn't have anything to do with overusing drugs. A person who has dosed tylenol to their baby one time (for something urgent) is just as scared as the person who has dosed tylenol numerous times for something lighter. You should go zealot all over another thread.

I like having back-up, fwiw.

Why would you trust them though? This is not the first recall they've had this year. What makes the other meds ok to take?

You don't have to be outright rude to be condescending. Whatever else you want to say about DCUM posters, we are all a highly educated bunch. Just because some people may not parent identically to you doesn't mean they are wrong or ill-informed.

Lol, sorry OP. Just because you're the OP, doesn't mean you get to decide who posts on your thread. Feel free to report all the posts you don't agree with and let Jeff delete them all.

And, highly educated doesn't mean you know everything.

You're right. Some obviously have some trouble with reading comprehension. How about this? I guarantee none of the anti-drug people posted anything that's news to anyone else. They just like to hear themselves talk.

Whatever, I told-you-so posters. Your posts are neither informative nor helpful. Go gloat somewhere else.

PP the told-u-so posts are not for you.
We're here crying for the children that get drugged by the parent for minor issues like a low fever, teething pain or crankiness that they can't explain.
This is fairly common and pretty sad.
These are the kids who'll grow up to need drugs to sleep, recreational drugs to relax and the like.

STFU. Your post makes a lot of assumptions about people. My kid was sick this weekend and my DH gave him a recalled product because he didn't know about the recall. You are an asshole for even remotely defending these gloating, self-satisfied bitches. Why don't all of you buy a remote island, sit in a circle, and nurse each other's kids until they are 10 to reduce fevers and combat infection? Again, STFU.

I'm one of the fairly holistica mamas who has been protesting about the dogmatic, anti-drug-at-all costs people on here. With this nasty post, you've leveled the playing field, proving that both sides have their share of assholes. Thanks for not letting the anti-drug mamas corner the market on strident and rude.

Yikes at the "holistic" posters.

I really consider myself quite holistic. I don't medicate fevers generally, unless my children aren't drinking enough and I'm concerned about dehydration.

My "baby" is 16 months and getting 4 molars and 4 eye teeth. Yeah, she's getting tylenol or motrin in the evenings, or she just cries and cries and cries -- very sad, and I'm not going to make her suffer in pain and zero sleep. Both bottles are low, both bottles are recalled.

You're a bitch. Period.
Anyone who would gloat/condescend over something like this just is. A bitch, that is.

You approach parenting differently. No more. No less. And it does not make you right. And, until you've walked in someone else's shoes, such as someone who needs to control some crying to get their child to sleep so they can work in the morning (which has not happened to me but I can understand how that would be the case), you don't get to judge over something like this.

And your last sentence is one of the most ridiculous things I have ever read. And it discredits you completely. You're a fool.

Agree. 16:43, you sound nasty and rude. I can understand that you're upset about the recall, but cursing and insulting others isn't going to help anything.

Really, they've said that there haven't been any adverse effects and that this is just preventative. You did what you thought best and that's that. It'll be fine.

I am nasty and rude, because I am so over people who think they know everything. They don't; in most cases, they're just looking for validation. I say to them again, STFU.

To 0:2:29...you may want to look into a correlation between your DC's seizures and artificial sweetners...I had an unexplained seizure as a child and after many, many tests, artificial sweetners (specifically Nutrasweet at the time) were deemed the cause. Good luck and I hope your child is doing much better!

I really hope this does not start another arguement....

OP, thanks for starting this thread. I checked, we have some that have been recalled.

Haven't read all of this but I got this info from the website faq:

Will you be offering a refund for the product I purchased and has been recalled?

Yes
McNeil is offering two options for consumers who have purchased products affected by this recall. You can receive either a refund for the average retail price of the product or a coupon for a free replacement (s) when the product becomes available again. You can do this by selecting one of the three ways to contact us on the right side of our www.mcneilproductrecall.com home page. To process your refund or coupon you will need the NDC number and Lot number from the product that has been recalled. The NDC number can be found above the brand name on the label of the bottle. The Lot number can also be found on the label and is usually placed vertically on the label.
