Large Recall of Children's OTC Meds, including Motrin, Tylenol, Benedryl, Zyrtec.

Unbelievable. I try so hard not to give drugs in our household, but DC has been suffering horribly from allergies, and we've had him on Zyrtec and Benedryl for almost a month now. I know it's not a serious safety recall, but it's still really frustrating.

Thanks for posting this. Unfortunately, I have given 2 of the recalled products to my sick little guy in the last 24 hours...

oh great. so what do they do, they just recall them and we have to stop using them (i have like 3 or 4 bottles of infant tylenol) but we don't get any refund or anything? they just say, too bad?

I tried to call the 800 number to find out what to do with my recalled Tylenol and they kept saying the call volume was extremely high and to check the website. The website, of course, has no information about whether you can return the recalled products to CVS (or wherever) or whether there's any way to get a refund.

If anyone finds out, please share!

None of it was distributed in U.S. - all Canada, Guam, etc. So, while highly disturbing regarding their qc practices for shipment out of country, does not pose an immediate threat here. Further, not recalled because of any adverse reactions reported.

Not true - the CNN article reads this way, but the press release says the recalled products were distributed in the US too.

The press release is awful. I read it several times and am left thinking that if you need any of these products, you'll have to buy store brand until they fix their problems - of course, nowhere does the press release actually say that.

I stand corrected - I actually have the Children's Tylenol in my cabinet. Now, what am I supposed to do with it?

I don't get it - is it just certain lot numbers, or is it ALL baby Tylenol, motrin, benadryl, etc?

and you still think it's ok to drug your children for minor issues. *sigh*

So i am safe if I only use store brand?

This is not true. I have a bottle of zyrtec, three bottles of motrin and three of tylenol in front of me - ALL RECALLED.

It is not lot numbers this time, it is entire NDC numbers.

Aren't store brands made in the same facilities and just labeled differently??
