It’s not a win until all masks are banned from schools.

Why do you care if others mask?unmask your kid and leave everyone else to make their own decision

That's silly. My kids aren't wearing masks but I certainly don't care if other people do.

+1 We got what we believed was correct and we should just be pleased our children can finally remove their masks. Let's move on rather than trying to do some sort of end zone celebration about it.

I am not. I am a teacher and wanted the option. I’m actually afraid of the reaction tomorrow. There have been some nasty comments already about fellow teachers being maskless.

Me too.

+1. It was dumb to say that teachers still had to wear it when kids didn't.

You may think it was dumb, but FCPS had to follow the law.
Teachers were under a different rule set by the Virginia Department of Labor. The legislation that passed recently only applied to students and went into effect on Tuesday. Now that the CDC has adjusted its guidelines, employees are no longer required to mask.

Arlington is still requiring all staff to mask, as far as I know.

Optional starting tomorrow

Nasty comments from fellow staff? I haven’t noticed that. I was thinking a good number of staff will be without masks tomorrow. Of course I realize it will vary by school.

Yes. I’ve heard through the grapevine teachers making comments about what they think of co workers who won’t mask.

Sending my ES kids in masks tomorrow and going in a mask myself (MS teacher) ... nervous there will be pressure/judgement from un-masked students and staff.

Me too. My RS staff has been insanely anti-mask from the start of school. I’m new there and have been appalled. At the first staff meeting of the year, a teacher went on a long winded rant about how unprofessional it is to wear masks when talking and how as a courtesy, we should pull down our masks when speaking. Any my principal agreed. No surprise, that teacher and a teammate were both out with COVID the first week of school. And then she complained all year that she shouldn’t have to wear a mask because of her natural immunity. I fear the pressure she is going to be putting on kids to unmask.

Yup. I sure can. I'm all good. Merely contributing to a conversation.

And your point is?
