Is the solution for parents to move to small towns?

^^ not Hamptons. Not a resort town. Mostly primary residences.

Another "not necessarily"
Some fresh blood in these conservative small towns is a nice balance. They can favor some conservative values (genuine ones like family values; not "family" values of GOP) as well as schools being open and general weakness of the teacher union (why are they so bad? making all unions look bad), not have to deal with wokeness BS. But they are also infusing smarts, tolerance, science, education, WEALTH, yes wealth into the community and the schools and that can make a difference, if they don't get subsumed. Turn these areas blue! But in a good way.

Do-gooder liberals coming to colonize red areas and bring civilization to the natives!

+1, but these people don’t care, just as long as their kids spend five days a week at times during a pandemic OMG IN BUILDINGS.

It’s asinine, but glad they’re moving away at least.

Teachers make a max of 48k in Texas, have no rights, cover recess, lunch and dropoff/pickup and it is a right to fire state so you can be let go off for no reason. Send these whiny teachers down to Texas and we will fix 'em.

You’re pathetic.

This.

Small town America is solid red and we like it that way.

Blue voters NOT WELCOME.

You progressives stay in the dysfunctional urban/suburban cesspools you created with your vote.

HAHAHA. You live in a place surrounded by ignorant people who are proud of their ignorance.

Don’t worry. Educated, intelligent people aren’t interested in moving to your cesspool.

... it's like you think those are virtues or something?

Why would any teacher put up with that terrible pay and bad conditions is beyond me. Hey, Texas teachers! Move to the better paying districts near Chicago. We are desperate for teachers, your max pay will be between 90K-140K depending where you teach and your degree, you won't cover recess or lunch and you'll be in a union.

It’s also a lie. My high school friends teach public school in TX and make way more than $48K. That poster is a troll.

Yep, move to those small towns and see how good the medical care is, especially right now. Been there, did that before Covid, not going back.

Lancaster and Hershey are small towns and have excellent medical care.

You have to pick a small town with a major teaching hospital system

My experience is the opposite but we moved to an affluent small town.

Pros:
- fantastic schools
- proximity to outdoors and beaches
- low to no crime (don’t need to lock your doors)
- no homeless or vagrancy
- everything is 10-15 min away max
- local shopping including upscale food market, home goods stores, and boutiques
- a lot of family friendly activities

Cons:
- no diversity
- Need a car unless you don’t mind biking
- cold winters

Hamptons?

Not pp you are asking question but you can find this in coastal ct or Maine and Nh.

I'm actually from Texas, and that was written like a parody of a Texan.

Right wing nazis actually pay people to sit here and sock puppet all day and make it sound like all the former democrats and independents are "fed up" and ready for fascism.

Well, I got myself on a local republican list at some point because I did some business with a conservative church, and now I get all kinds of crazy stuff. They do in fact solicit people to do this.

We moved back to a small town. No one really talks about politics. Most people vote. But politics isn’t the center of our world like it was in DC. I rarely hear anyone mention it. I have no idea how most people voted. We have an LGTBQ family member. Openly gay. No one cares. Our schools are open. No threats to close. Masks are not required anywhere, although many people choose to wear them. Most people are vaccinated. But, there is a lot of skepticism on the effectiveness.

We talk about family, travel, sports, weather, ……. Politics just doesn’t come up. I’m a very liberal dem living in what is a fairly conservative area. I’ve never felt uncomfortable.

The only real downside is lack of diversity. This is the whitest place I’ve ever lived. I don’t think I would have wanted to raise my kids here simply because of that.
