Aniston - Hollywood Reporter - kids

Even though I love Friends, I've never been a huge fan of her as an actress...that being said, all the comments on her not having babies have always been AWFUL. Anyone who makes comments about why so and so has never have kids are either dumb, cruel or both.

You never know what someone is truly going through. She never owed us babies or an explanation as to why she wasn't having babies, but to know she was trying and couldn't amidst all these awful comments is just heartbreaking

I'm actually so glad she said this. The conversation has been so focused on "I don't want kids" or "when I want them I can have them even when I'm 50" that it was refreshing to hear someone come out and say hey, it isn't all sunshine and rainbows and having kids is something that's OK to want.

I still think she and her PR team essentially used pregnancy/babies as a strategic hook to keep an otherwise basic actress on the cover of tabloids/magazines for decades.

Saying she wished someone had told her to freeze her eggs is just ridiculous. Everyone knows that, and I’m sure her doctors and handlers would have suggested that if she truly wanted a baby.

If she wanted to be a mother, she would have found a way to be a mother.

Speculation on whether she would have a baby was literally the biggest thing that made her interesting. The other was Brad Pitt.

It’s okay imho for her to just focus on herself, her career, her dogs, and her wealth. But that sounds boring and selfish, so her team used her fertility to keep her relevant/interesting.

I wish that we didn’t require women to strip down to nothingness to show their power and pride. I’d rather just see her in her tank top and ripped jeans that she was wearing for the interview, rather than a weird designer g string.

She also manages to not trash any of her exes, so points to her for being classy.

I haven't read the article yet, but I said something similar about her years ago: that she needs to stop posing naked or nearly naked. There's no reason to do that. We all know she has a great body.

Heck, if I had a body like that I'd stand naked in the freezer section of the local supermarket.

But seriously, she can do whatever she wants with her body. She's also pragmatic and knows roles at her age are tough to come by in a Hollywood (and society) that exalts youth above all else. Retaining the "hot" label helps, as other actresses like Halle Berry also know. Let's critique the patriarchal structures that perpetuate this, not the women who merely are savvy about navigating it to their advantage.

Maybe those women are helping perpetuate that patriarchal structure when they could be helping change it.

Agree completely. I never got why some people are crazy about her, she’s just ok as an actress.

By being ignored and unemployed once they're no longer f*ckable?

Yeah. That’s just a bunch of bs. I don’t know why she said that.

Dolly has said she couldn’t have biological children due to fertility problems and they accepted the fact. If her husband had been a huge movie star who then promptly left her and impregnated a hot young woman then there would have been more of a commotion.

She is 53 AND she could still have kids. If she was a man, nobody would bat an eye at a 53 year old man having kids. THAT IS HER POINT!

Probably post menopausal. No kids!

This is Allure’s last hard copy of their magazine! And who got the cover!?

Freaking JENNIFER ANISTON!

She was in prime age for children in the late 60s through late 70s. The first IVF baby was born in 1978 in the UK, and not until 1981 in the US. Things might have been different for Dolly if she were born later--not much of a comparison.

It didn’t become non-experimental until 8 or 9 years later when there was a new freezing technology that dramatically improved success rates. So even with all of that money, it was uncommon at the time and had a much lower likelihood of success.

My heart goes out to her. I know a lot of women like her in their early to mid-50s who tried and couldn’t have kids late 30s/early 40s. The advances with egg freezing make a difference now.

She married Justin when she was 46. She started dating him when she was 43. Seems like she didn't start until her mid-40s. Nothing wrong with that, but the chances of success without donor egg/embryo are slim.

Maybe she tried in late 30’s with JM or another BF. I’m sure she’s had more BF’s that we know nothing about.

Perhaps. In the article she only talks about trying with Justin.

As soon as she stops putting the body on covers and inviting comments.

If she didn't do an interview every year about 'I'm not pregnant! I want kids but nooo or Justin and I are thinking about this adoption but the time is a little shaky'.

Do an article or cover on your latest project, the conservation committee you're chairing, your dreams for the next five years.

Why is she sitting on the floor. At 50 is that cool or just uncomfortable?
