I love Robin, she's my favorite. Yes I find some of the talk a bit silly but she's a hardcore athlete and I really am inspired by her. Cody is my second favorite but not in a tough way, more in a fun way. I really honestly mostly ride with the two of them these days. |
Olivia!!! |
Alex is actually my favorite instructor, but I only find his rides challenging if I +10 on the resistance numbers he calls. I love how engaging he is. His 6/5/20 ride (I think that’s the right date) brought me to tears when he talked about Breonna Taylor. I was really touched by his words about growing up and experiencing life as a Black male. It’s a different Alex vibe than his usual classes. |
The Peloton holiday party looked fun! I didn’t see many pics of Robyn or Ally with the others, I think PP was right about them being the “mean popular girls.”
|
He is awful. I can’t stand Brad |
I don't think any instructors are harder or easier, it's just that some motivate you more less. And that has more to do with the rider's psychology than the instructor.
Personally, my PRs have all been with Cody. That's uncommon, but it means that I tend to be more motivated by a catty queen playing Britney Spears than someone telling me to dig deep. |
Lol. He does often amuse me to the point I forget I’m suffering. |
+1 I honestly get basically the same chance of PRing with any instructor because while I use their callouts as guidelines when they say push I go to what “push” means to me. If you stay in the callout range indefinitely then eventually all the instructors will be too easy for you. I am always looking at my average watts per minute and trying to push towards whatever goal I have for the ride and just use the callouts as structure for pushes rather then listening to exactly the numbers they suggest! |
DP, but I think this is accurate. People talk about Olivia being the “hardest,” but she does so little for me that I won’t listen to her call outs. I also prefer instructors who are both more structured and who focus on perceived exertion, rather than random numbers that don’t mean much, depending on the person and their specific bike. I’ll push hard for Robin’s Tabata rides any day, or Hannah Frankson’s HIIT and Hills. Olivia or Kendall? No, thank you. |
What don't you like about him? |
Allegra, apparently. |
Yes, this is the thing. I can’t take rides with instructors I find irritating, and I push myself when I’m enjoying myself. So that means I get my best results with Cody and Hannah F; I always enjoy their classes. My second tier is Ben, Emma, and Denis. I can’t stand Robin, Ally, Kendall, Olivia; it doesn’t matter how “hard” they are, I find their personalities and approaches to teaching repellent. |
I’m so impressed with Christine’s cycling cred that I let a lot go. She cries a lot on the bike- I generally am not a fan of such stuff. But in general the professional athlete types are my favorites: Matt Wilpers, Becs for running, and even Christine. I find Robin’s inspiration so over the top as to be unintentionally hilarious. But programs good lifting workouts. Someone mentioned Jess King and her voice. I don’t ride with her a lot bc I prefer Matt’s structured approach but she’s done a couple peloton outdoor runs and I thought they were excellent. Her voice was soothing and encouraging. I hope she does more. |
He tries too hard to be the British Cody. He’s not funny although he thinks he is. He is just unfunny and unlikeable as an instructor |
I don’t love Brad’s rides but I do like his arms/light weights classes. He’s a boxer so I bet they eventually add boxing content from him if it takes off. I don’t get the vibe that he’s trying to be the British Cody at all - different personality altogether from my perspective. It’s ok that you don’t prefer him but plenty of others like him. |
