How should I feel about the fact that my next door neighbors put a Youngkin board on their lawn?

In every election.

Vote.

Thank you.

Terry McAuliffe isn’t doing himself any favors when he says things like parents shouldn’t control what their children are being taught in school. I’m honestly not happy with either candidate and don’t know what to do on voting day. They’re both appalling.

But parents shouldn't. If you only want your child taught in school what you want your child taught in school, then you need to homeschool. Should flat-earther parents control what their children are taught in public school? How about creationist parents? How about parents who want their children to be taught a curriculum that includes the 1619 Project and Critical Race Theory?

Parents have every right to object to the racism being encouraged by the liberal school system. I don’t think the parents in Loudoun are saying they want the creation theory taught. White parents simply don’t want their children being taught that whites are racist and/or evil, nor do black parents want their children being taught that they are oppressed victims. Remember, Loudoun is affluent and the “oppressed” black children are living in large, expensive homes - with college-educated professional parents (for the most part).

Is that what they are being taught in Loudoun? Serious question. Are there examples of this in the LCPS curriculum that you can cite?

The problem is everything is turning into a culture war. We need some impartial educators in charge.

Ignore it.

Our neighbor has Youngkin signs on their lawn. They have had Trump signs on their lawn for 5 YEARS. It is an eyesore that has brought down the neighborhood in many ways. I am sure it has affected our property values because it looks like a QAnon nut job outpost. Most neighbors keep their distance from this neighbor. Others have put up signs to counteract the display. We don't want people to think that our neighborhood is an enclave of racist Trump supporters. I have been questioned about it by visitors. It's embarrassing. I don't think this neighbor cares about how repellent their house looks and everyone on the block is hoping that they stop or move to Florida or Texas and take their signs with them.

That won’t happen with McAuliffe as Governor again. He will completely give free rein to the CRT/DEI promoters to destroy public education (and it won’t affect him at all since he’s already sent his own kids to expensive privates and a rich-kid, economically segregated public school).

I don't feel proud. I suspect my neighbor has dementia because the Youngkin sign seems out of character. She is (used to be) a Christian.

Youngkin is going to take away all our legalized pot and give our kids a criminal record.

He will have to pry my joint out of my cold dead hand! I am voting for Terry!

Think of it as that old NBC PSA "the more you know" with the star shooting across the sky. You learned something new about this neighbor! Not something good, mind you, but knowledge is power and illuminates the whole picture.

Free speech is their right, just as you are not required to be their friend. Don't say anything to them about the sign, it is not worth the argument and just creates tension and bad blood.

WTF are you talking about? “CRT promoters”? You sound deranged.

OP, honestly I would move. Unless you and your reasonable neighbors could convince her she’s not wanted in your neighborhood, it would just be too much for most people knowing someone close by supports a conservative.

Is this sarcasm? Only Democrats are welcome in your neighborhood? Wow.

So what? Your neighbors are Republicans. There are POCs who are. Get over it. Good grief.
