Don't forget how young they both are - and they're also autistic which means developmentally delayed, particularly socially. I'm not surprised they broke up, but its sad. |
It's exploitive by certain families like Tanner, Abbey, and Connor. They are all doing it for exposure and hoping to get a social media following. Did you hear the latest drama between Kaelynn (a date) and Tanner's MOM? But for the most part no, they are teaching the public about people on the spectrum and their quest to get a partner. It's filmed documentary style so it's meant to educate, which it does. |
What happened between Kaelynn and Tanner's mom? |
Kaelynn was not "a date". She was a main character. |
Kaelynn, on a podcast said that shows like LOTS allow the world to see “weirdos” like Tanner in a different light. She wasn’t calling him a weirdo but saying that that is how the world sees autistic people without shows like this. Nikki/Tanners Mom then attacks Kaelynn taking it far too literally and seriously, assuming she was actually just calling Tanner a weirdo. Kaelynn has got very upset that her words have been misconstrued and she’s trying to get in touch with Nikki to explain, but Nikki is refusing to respond to her messages AND disregarding that Kaelynn is also on the spectrum. |
Tanner's mom should know better. That's kind of insane. |
|
Now other cast members are piling on Kaelynn.
IMO, it can be tricky for women like Kaelynn. They can present neurotypical to those who don't know them well/at first glance. I think that's why she's getting so much heat, as to opposed to maybe if another cast member like Callie had said it. |
| The other thing is that apparently none of the autistic people were paid. That seems more exploitative to me than using the show for exposure. |
| Kaelynn is always making people angry. She should be used to it by now. |
Tanner‘s mother is a Neurotypical adult who chose to (instead of seeking understanding why Kaelynn would say that) post an accusatory video tagging Tanner‘s friends. When Kaelynn commented on the video saying “woah that’s not what I meant can we please talk”, Tanner’s mother ignored her and doubled down posting a second video. Bad look and poor taste. |
