How much do you set aside per year for your chid's 529?

My kids are young (an infant and a toddler). We are saving $100/month for each, not including accumulated interest and gifts from family. I spoke to one friend with similarly aged children whose financial planner suggested a high figure for 529 savings, around $800 per month per child. Just curious what others are saving, the ages of your children, and how much you plan to have saved by the time they're 18.

Either 2500 or 5000 per year per child. Child 1 is almost 6 and has about 30k, child 2 is almost 4 and has 25k. We hope to have 100k per child

We usually do $15k/year/kid. But we are high earners with no likelihood of financial aid and want to pay for all education costs for our kids. I would do what you can do. It is hard to imagine oversaving being much of an issue.

We did very little into the 529s until they were out of daycare. Now we do $400/month for each kid.

$50/month and more when I can. We got a late start and I’m still paying off my college. I have no target set for now.

$8,400 a year. But we just started (kids are 1 and 2nd grade) so we are catching up.

Our kids are 10 and 11 and we only just started saving - $250 per kid per month. We are so screwed. We have a couple of thousand dollars of rental income per month that I am hoping will cover some ground. And maybe some inheritance.

$8k pernuear, the DC tax deduction.

$5000. When I get my dependent care expense account reimbursement at the end of the year, I deposit that check into his account.

$12k per kid, per year until recently when we cut it back for the oldest because we are on track to exceed our goal.

$5k/year/child. We have inheritance money, so we just move that amount over each year for the tax break in our resident state.

That's a good idea, I think I will try that this year

NP here. I'm curious what that goal is, do you mind sharing? We do 8k a year and have 88k for our 8 year old. Likely umping up to 12k this year.
