Serena Williams’ ‘Wakanda-Inspired Catsuit’ Banned By French Open

Nope. Wimbledon requires players all wear white. And, I mean ALL white. http://time.com/5323876/wimbledon-2018-dress-code/
If she doesn’t like the rules, she can choose not to compete in the French Open. Their tournament, their rules.

It's their tournament, but changing the rules specifically so that a Black woman can't wear a specific (Afrocentric) outfit is not a great look for them.

It is the only press she will get because she will be out in a hurry.

NP and of COURSE they can dictate whatever they want with regards to dress code. That doesn't change the fact that they look petty as hell and this is going to reflect very poorly on them.

Not to mention that the outfit was designed to address a specific (and life threatening) medical condition she is trying to control.

Isn't that medical condition resolved now, though?

It will likely be an ongoing risk she'll have to deal with for a long time.

So are the long pants the issue or do they feel the outfit is making a “statement” somehow? Either way, I wouldn’t mind seeing a protest/boycott (by players, sponsors, viewers) over this.

“One must respect the game and place.” ??? How was her outfit disrespectful?

This is risky business.

They will never come out and say it, but I think they clearly did not like seeing the outline of her curvy behind. I don't know what else could explain it, since they do not ban women from wearing shorts in general, and they don't ban the tight spandex tennis mini-dresses that so many other players wear.

She should just have a new outfit designed that's the same but with a little skirt attached, to prove the point.

Oh, please. France has former colonies in Africa and does a superior job of accepting and enfolding then into a French citizenship. They also have a serious view on what is French and what is Fashion. This is their choice. Lots of outfits are distracting as well and there are rules about distractions in tennis, even in humble matches all over the world...

The French being racist? Color me shocked.
