why do some doctors have the H1N1 vaccine and others don't?

why is this such a mystery? none of my doctors have any idea when they are getting the vaccine and had no advice about whether to go to the free clinics? the newspapers are reporting that people are getting vaccines in doctors offices? are any doctors offices giving shots in the greater dc area?

i don't think the shots are available yet. the mist is available at several dr's offices. i don't know why some don't have it yet. maybe they didn't get their orders in?

My DD just got her first H1N1 shot today at her pediatrician. It wasn't the preservative free version, but it was a shot.

I don't know, but I'm starting to get really mad about it. Why did MD get the vaccine and start clinics last week and VA is setting them for next weekend? And if I see one more flipping medical professional from VA on TV bragging that they've already vaccinated their children, I'm going to go bonkers. It is completely unethical for medical professionals with early access to the vaccine to be giving it to their family and friends ahead of the other CDC priority groups.

where are you. my pediatrician in dc does not have them nor any info about when they are coming.

I spoke with my pediatrician today, and they should be getting a shipment of the vaccine tomorrow.

My pediatrician has them and has scheduled appointments this weekend for people on the priority list. I'm in VA.

VA. I happened to be in last Friday with my younger (<6mo) child and asked about the vaccine and Dr said they had them. Got older DD scheduled for today. I was kinda surprised.

DH is an ER doc & still has not been able to get vaccinated. So no early access to the vaccine for him. He has already seen a large number of H1N1 infected individuals - hopefully he has some type of immunity by now.

would you mind saying which VA pediatricians have it? I know I can't go there since we are not patients, but I want to be able to refute my pediatrician's claim that "no one has it" with some specifics. The office is disorganized and poorly run and I should have switched long ago......but alas, here I am.

I too am feeling frustrated by this process. It's the lack of information that's difficult to accept. The information that is out there is so mixed and there are no clear answers

Fairfax County said they would start vaccinating at schools this weekend and then the information they had just put up today came down from their website. None of my doctors have it (internal medicine, OB, pediatrician). Someone please give us some clear answers!

It is so contradictory. I read an article that said the walk in clinics in Fairfax county at the 10 middle schools this Saturday would only be for school age children, not anyone else. Of course, I'm sure that is subject to change.

Arlington County is frustrating me! They have nothing posted to the county website about clinics. I heard through neighbors with school-age kids that they are offering H1N1 shots through school starting next week. However, there seems to be no information in Arlington about where to get shots for kids who are 0-6. I would think they would be concerned about all the kids in daycare, but apparently not.

We got a mailing sent home today providing all the information about Arlington County-provided shots for school-age kids. Basically they sent home a form and if you sign it giving permission and send it back by the end of the week, they will start giving the shots at the schools next week. The shots are free but will only be given if you give your written permission (obviously) and they will also provide the follow-up shot.

I personally think Arlington has done a great job on this issue - I think providing the shots to school-age kids in school absolutely makes the most sense, then you don't end up with the issue everyone else is having about where to find the shots.... I was also very surprised to learn the shots are free - I figured we'd have to send a check to cover it. At least my tax dollars are being used for something good....
