Why do they wait so long to send letters?

Anonymous
Is it just me, or does it seem really late when they send the letters with the bus and teacher info? I heard they won't send them for our school until less than a week from when school starts. I want to know in advance what time we will have to wake up. It just adds to the anxiety not knowing anything.

Because registration isn't a one time event. Classes are being shuffled around as numbers of students and staff are finalized. People move EVERY day and enroll (or un-enroll) their kids. If they sent stuff out in early August, it would need to be changed by September which would be way more annoying.

1) Kids enroll in and leave schools up to the last minute so things are still changing.
2) Parents around here go insane sometimes so they don't want to give them too much time to whine about things.

Just my guesses.

I think they wait because they don’t want to deal with parents complaining all summer

For our school is it because there is a high moblity among students and the don’t know how many students they will have until it gets closer to the start of the school year. This is especially true if they are near a number that allows for an extra teacher.

No one needs this information any earlier, so why send it out when it may change?

I know where our bus stop has been for the past 5 years for our middle and high school, but am wondering do we get an actual email with bus information or do we have to check blackboard for the bus location?

This. It gives helicopter parents less time to gripe.

Is the bus information on blackboard? I thought they don't publish bus info for safety reasons. In spring when people fill out the forms, they know who will still be going to school in the fall. Usually there is not THAT much turnover.

You need to chill. When you get the letter, even if it is 3 days before the first day of school, set your alarm. Why do you need this info weeks in advance? If this makes YOU anxious, you need some help. Don't model this for your kids.

I am an elementary teacher and I promise you my class list won’t be ready when I go back on Friday. Usually I get a final class list a day or two later.

Sorry this is our first year with a bus. How do we get the information?

Just ask a neighbor about the bus stop and time.
