This is the whole reason for this thread. Newcomers think they are missing something because they have not sent the info yet! Just be patient, very patient. |
I am not OP. I don't care when the information comes. But I've asked the question of how do you get bus schedules 3 times and you keep responding without giving the information I requested. |
| The bus schedule will be sent to you by the elem. school and it will also be posted on your blackboard account late in the week preceding the start of school. It is in the lower right hand corner of the blackboard page. |
School starts in two weeks. If you haven't heard anything by 8/24, then maybe think about calling the school to ask. Everyone here keeps saying it will come the week before school starts. So until that week has come CHILL. |
I'm not the OP; but we've had several years of not receiving the information even once it had been sent out. So allowing more time for mishaps like that is helpful for those whose letters seem to always get lost. Also, bus schedules may not change much; but the times for us did change last year and if you didn't get a letter ahead of time, you would have missed the bus. Also, I know a lot of people who go away that last week before school starts; so it can get "lost" in the backlog of mail when you return. Lots of reasons. actual teacher assignment isn't the end of the world if you don't know it earlier; but the transportation info can be, and it is really nice to have time to start working the grapevine and figuring out who's with who - especially as the child changes to another school, easing anxiety of the absolute unknown going into middle school for instance. |
Thank you. I am actually looking for middle and high school. Can you clarify if I should look for a letter or an email from the school? I assume blackboard has this information for all schools. |
You should receive a letter in the mail, and the bus info will also be posted on Blackboard a week before school. |
How do I get a blackboard account? |
|
I am 99% sure that I have received paper bus schedules in the mail from each school, but usually pretty late, maybe a week in advance. This year I will have one in ES, one in MS, and one in HS. Last summer right before school started, I also checked with my neighbor about the HS bus time.
If you would like to set up Blackboard in advance, I would contact the school as they will be able to assist. You can google the school, and then while on the school webpage, find the directory. There is a search mode in the directory, look for the "School Based Technology Specialist". They can advise you. |
Same at our school. Number of classes in immersion shifted down in last 2 weeks before classes started last year, so both immersion and non-immersion classes had to be reshuffled. Add to that the revolving door of kids from renting families between 3-4 local schools before every year, but also throughout the year and you have logistical issues. |
| Because they don't want parents knowing. You might complain. You might come into the school and complain. Really, this is what they think. They are so afraid of parents showing up or calling and complaining about something, they would rather keep you not-knowing for as long as possible. Your convenience is unimportant. |
I am an elementary teacher with FCPS. As of today my SIS account has not yet been populated with students. I wouldn’t be able to tell you who is in my class if you asked. |
Neighbors |
You will receive a letter in the mail from transportation sometime next week. If you cannot wait until then, ask your neighbors. That is usually the quickest and most accurate way. |
If you are new to fcps you will get it after school starts. |
