Jeep wrangler

I don't know much about this car. Thinking about getting one. We live in Colorado now. What does DCUM think?

The new 2018's are really nice. I've been looking at the for the past year. Most DCUM don't like them. Wait till the 19's come out as the 18's are the new model year and its best not to buy the new model year. Best negotiating I got was 6% off invoice. Get the Rubicon as it is much more money but doesn't need as much upgrading if you want to off road.

I think I lost a portion of my hearing driving my soft top on the highway. Had it for 7 years. I liked having it for the beach and 4 wd for skiing, but will never drive one on a highway again. And would only have it as a fun second car.

The new version of the hard top with the sound cushion is not any louder than my current SUV. They now are making a retractable roof that looks cool but I'm worried about noise with it.

Great for Colorado. Not so much for DC.

OP here. We have BMW X3 as a first car, also 4 wdrive, but DH drives it and I need a car for myself now. So not sure what to get in Colorado, has to be 4 wheel drive as they don't put salt on roads here.

I don't really like them honestly...

Wranglers are a ton of fun, especially off-road. If that's your intended use, then have at it! Otherwise, they're basically the worst choice possible for a daily driver. Loud, gas-guzzling, top-heavy, harsh ride, etc.

If you're looking for everyday transportation that can handle Colorado winters, look at Subaru first - there's a reason they're so popular out there. There are also plenty of decent SUVs and crossovers you can choose from: Honda CRV, Hyundai Santa Fe and Kona, Toyota RAV4, etc. Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee are worth a look as well. Any of those would be a better choice than a Wrangler for 99% of most peoples' driving needs.

Do your research. Read the reviews. It's only good for off road use.

Hard pass unless you're a frat bro or sorority girl.

+100. I've owned a (2 door) Jeep wrangler, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and a Honda Pilot and agree with the above... my wrangler actually wasn't so great in the snow. yes its a high clearance vehicle but even in 4WD it would slide around more than I expected (perhaps because it was top heavy or the 2 door short wheel base - i.e. length). Putting the top up and down was sometimes annoying. The road noise is tough. Girlfirends HATED the top down because it messed up their hair and we couldn't have a normal conversation because of the noise. Not the safest vehicle out there. Rougher ride... Basically it's fun in limited circumstances but for 95% of the time its not so fun. My grand cherokee was way better in the snow and much better in ride.

People who drive jeeps are determined to get to their destination. We love love love ours. On our fifth and know we will always have one. How can you live in Colorado and not know much about a jeep? Surely, you at least see a lot of them so that should be at least some comfort. They are the guys pulling you out of the ditch for free when it snows.

The new JL's are very different than the old versions - they are quieter and smoother ride.

What don't you like? There are many models. The new ones with higher trim are pretty comfortable and loaded with features.

Honda and Toyota also make numerous AWD cars.
