I am 37

Seriously, there's nothing worse than old people driving Jeep Wranger. Get something that goes with your age.

Lol. Ok you crazy.

In 3 years you will be 40. Are you going to drive around a Jeep @40?

I'm over 40 and going to buy one once the new model year comes out. Now is when we can afford a really nice one so why not. Why drive a boring car? Life is too short.

Exactly! I’m 43, and I’m getting one too.

a Subaru?

I don't really like them honestly...

What don't you like? There are many models. The new ones with higher trim are pretty comfortable and loaded with features.

Honda and Toyota also make numerous AWD cars.

Every car-related question triggers the Honda-Subaru-Toyota crowd. Try to accept that not everyone is a sheep like you and that some people may not like what you like.

AWD and 4WD aren’t the same thing

Someone who wants a Jeep Wrangler calling someone who appreciates the most reliable cars currently made a sheep?

That's rich, honey.

I'd bet money that AWD makes more sense for OP.

I don’t think jeep people care about age.

We’ve had one since 2009 and have done almost nothing to it but oil changes and replacing tires and battery.

You can get a lifetime warranty for major repairs for under $2K on the wrangler. Honda and Toyota are basic standard cars. They are not for off-roading or fun. Its hit or miss on if its reliable. Some of it is just pure luck.

And, we have a 1998 Ford that we've almost done nothing to but oil changes, tire, battery and an occasional tune up. 20 years and going strong.

Unless OP has body of a teenager, 37 is too old for a Jeep. Put it under “trying too hard” file.

So, in your 30's you only can drive a boring car.

I don't really think much of my age, and the fact that I am apperantly "old" by DCUM standards(??). But yes I am in excellent shape, size 0, 113 pounds. DH is ripped 43 y.o. Most people in Co have excellent bodies, I don't even think about it anymore.

First, I never said I wanted a Wrangler so thanks for ASSuming.
Second, sadly, your response illustrates the point I was making about being a sheep - if OP or anyone else wants something other than "the most reliable cars" then something must be wrong with them. What a drab world it would be if we all drove Toyotas, Hondas, and Subarus. No thanks!
Third, you shouldn't get so defensive because of internet rejection - it's OK if someone doesn't want what you think is best for them.

I've owned seven Jeeps since 1989 (CJ, YJ, XJ, TJ, JK) and all were a lot of fun. I learned to drive on a CJ, and a CJ7 was my first car. I still have a CJ8 and a JK. All were quite reliable when compared to their respective "peers" of their era. Off-road, nothing equals them. Nothing. Not anymore. They are literally in a class all by themselves. Old Land Rover Defenders can match a Jeep Rubicon in stock form, but serious off-road Jeeps are almost never kept in stock form, so it's really an invalid comparison. But they are the best off-road vehicle, ever.

On the highway?

That's a dumb question.

And the people who complain about how they perform on pavement are idiots. Because that's what you would similarly call someone who complained that a Ferrari 458 was terrible for driving up a muddy mountain trail filled with rocks the size of beagles.

As for reliability, they're fairly uncomplicated machines, and if you're a handy person, you can do a lot of work on them yourself. With good routine maintenance, they are extremely reliable. And not very pricey to fix.

I also have a Subaru. I can't really say the same for it. It's seen more maintenance issues before 100K than any of my Jeeps ever did. Very disappointed.

I also have a Toyota Tundra pick up (love it!!!!) and my wife has a Mustang and an older BMW 5-Series.

Of all the cars in our family, my JK is my favorite, followed by the Tundra.
