| Hey Guys, I posted a previous question but I was told to post on this forum regarding which private school my kids should be enrolled in. My son is currently 5 and my daughter is 10. I grew up in Montgomery county and went to a public school here and I enjoyed it but I feel that my kids should go to a private school . I am indian and I would like to know which school has the most number of Indians in their school so my kids wouldn’t feel left out. I’m not trying to be racist or anything but just making sure that my kids can fit in. I live near the North Potomac/Potomac border but don’t mind driving. Thanks |

How do you define "Best private school for Indian origin kids"? My family is also Indian and we live in the same general area. I looked for the best school for my children, but that didn't mean the school that had the most Indian kids.

She was pretty clear. She’s looking for a school that has some other kids that look like hers so they aren’t the onlies. Most people of Indian origin send their kids to public so seeking advice from a private schools forum regarding which privates have a decent number of Indian kid enrollment makes sense if that’s one of the school criteria she’s looking for. People have lots of different things they look for in schools. Not wanting your child to be the only person of a race is a valid concern. Op- I have no good advice. I have one child in a private school in VA and there are only 2 Indian kids in the whole school. Good luck. |
| where do your friends send their kids OP? I know some indian families that send their kids to Sidwell. |
|
We're Indian too. Our friends' kids go to Sidwell, GDS, WIS, the Cathedral schools, and Maret. Our child goes to one of the above. I think you can find Indian kids at all of them. Not a ton of them, but they're there. At my child's school there are a couple in each grade.
But the vast majority of the Indians we know send their kids to public schools - TJ and Blair magnet being the prize that they prep for from elementary years onward. |
| I went to Wootton in the early 90’s and I feel that my kids should receive the private education . I just my preference. Atleast could anyone recommend any private schools in the area. Budget is not a issue |
| OP^ |
| OP over here- I thinking of sending them to either Sidwell or Bullis. Any recommendations? |
| a highly rated public school |
| I lived in this area and went to Wootton as I mentioned and prefer that they go to a private school . Could anyone give me any valid suggestions ? |
| greatschools.org displays a pie chart of the school's division of races. It is self reporting and not always accurate but, it's a start. |
| Thank you. I will check it out |
| Nutty! |
Those schools are pretty different from each other. |
If you're looking for co-ed K-12 schools those make the most sense geographically. Maybe Barrie, which is in Silver Spring and I think has a fair number of Indian students. |
