Gang Activity in Mt. Pleasant

On Friday afternoon/evening there was a large police presence in Mt. Pleasant at Irving and Mt. Pleasant St.

Turns out two rivals gangs were going to have a turf war. Sanctuary Cities is one thing but allowing our streets to be turned into the Killing Fields is wrong.
Many people come here from Central and South America to escape this type of violence only to discover that the law enforcement has been neutered by local politicians all
in the name of votes and political correctness.

Mexico is on pace for 30K murders this year. I have nothing against law abiding people coming to America and I want a pathway to citizenship for all undocumented citizens but if you
get involved in illegal activities that's wrong and telling our police that they can't make arrests in these cases is insane.

You haven't provided any evidence that the "gangs" had anything to do with immigrants. Moreover, a large police presence is at odds with what you describe as "neutered" police force.

Let me guess - you are from MD and were cutting through the neighborhood and saw some assembled youth and police on a street corner and are wildly jumping to conclusions on here?

Or did you get a press release from MS-13 telling you that this was what happened?

this is what happens when Each Peach Market doesn't have freestones yet because those come later in the summer and everyone wants a cobbler but no one wants to deal with the pits, people get very cranky and extremely racist and suddenly it's a turf war.

In response to a large police presence in Mount Pleasant Friday night, MPD responded:
“an MPD unit assigned to the area observed two rival gangs at the location. One of the gang members was surrounded by several members of the rival gang and the officer, believing that a fight was about to take place, requested additional units to respond to the location. No fight ever took place and the gang members were identified and sent on their way. No arrests were made during the incident. During the stop, several residents took out their cell phones and began recording the incident while shouting statements like “Leave the immigrants alone” and “Please don’t take them away”.
I just want to reiterate, that it is the policy of the Metropolitan Police Department that we do not participate in any type of immigration enforcement , nor do we inquire about any persons immigration status. MPD will continue to monitor any additional gang activity between these two groups and will take the appropriates action to prevent any further violence within the community.”

America has a shit-ton of murders too. The vast majority are committed by Americans and remain unsolved because our police can't solve their way out of a paper bag. Immigrants are not the problem.
