Can you (do you) finish a regular restaurant portion?

I went out to breakfast at a diner with a new women’s book club I’m in.

Of like 8 ladies, I was the only one who finished my meal. It was a lot of food but not an excessive amount, normal for a diner, three-egg Swiss mushroom omelet with hash browns and toast. I ate it all and was full but not uncomfortably so. Everyone else ordered similar sized meals and most left a good amount on their plate. I hear people bemoaning restaurant portions a lot and I guess I don’t really get it. I can always finish my meal if it’s a normal mealtime. I don’t like taking leftovers because I won’t eat it and I don’t like waste.

I’ m a normal weight, not skinny at 5’7” and 145 pounds, the same since I graduated college.

I usually don’t. Once I’m satisfied, I slow down. I know I can save it for later, or I offer bites to others. If it’s not great, I have no qualms about leaving it behind.

I’m overweight (sz 14/16), but I can’t finish a 3 egg omelet meal like you described.

The tiniest women win those competitive eating contests though.

It’s not necessarily the portions, but the grease, salt and fat in restaurant food. A restaurant omelette is sooo heavy for me. I can maybe eat half. Restaurant food tends to be tough on my system.

I do find the portions large but I typically finish them and then skip the next meal as I am really full. I don't like to pay restaurant prices and then not eat the food.

I never do because I get full fast and can go from being satisfied to feeling sick quickly. I am not thin.

It depends. I'm overweight but we don't eat out a lot, so restaurant food tends to be a little greasy for me. The other day I had a rare dinner out alone so I had crab soup. I couldn't finish because it was so heavy (but it was delicious!).

It depends on the restaurant and how hungry I am.

When I'm out with others, I tend to eat slower as well.

It depends on how hungry I am, what I ate for dinner the night before, and when it was. I don’t eat bread but would’ve eaten the rest if it was good. Sometimes omelettes are rubbery.

The omelet was so-so, definitely not as tender as I make at home but the hash browns were killer! Extra crispy like some of y’all’s preschoolers and not greasy at all. I almost asked for a third piece of sourdough toast because it was so good with all the butter and homemade jam on it.

I typically cannot finish a 3 egg omelette and hash browns. I'd probably eat 3/4 of it.

OK, that’s great! Not sure what your aim/point is here. I eat what looks and tastes good, when I’m hungry, and stop when I’m full. Sometimes, I finish a restaurant portion, mostly not.

If I eat more toast when I’m not actually hungry, will I be a cool girl, too? -np

Please chill. I’m not cool. I just like to get my money’s worth. And also the toast was really good. You weirdos post the most inane garbage all day long sometimes I want to join in the fun.

Your money’s worth? LOL. Pack it on, then buy more diet books, programs, supplements and calorie/step trackers. Smart!
