Car Buying - wait for Sept/Oct?

We have decided to buy a Toyota Highlander, mostly likely a new 2018. We will be trading in our 10 year old Toyota. We are so close to 2019 models coming out. While we really don't care about getting a new 2019 model, I feel like we should wait until Sept./Oct. to try to negotiate a cheaper price on the 2018 model.

Any experience with this? Should we just buy at end of this month and not wait? Any idea what the dealerships do in terms of discounts on 2018 models when 2019 come out?

we did exactly that and did our shopping around here and ended up buying it in southern md and they delivered it saved thousands.

I got a 2017 model RAV4 at the end of December and saved almost 25% off the MSRP. They were running out of cars so we didn't get the color we planned on, but we couldn't care less. Best deals are to be had (in this order): at the end of the year, at the end of the quarter, and at the end of the month.

I think right now you have a better chance at getting 0% interest rate if that matters to you. Remember also that the longer you wait the less chance of finding the model with the right options and color there is.

If you really want the biggest discount, you should wait until December and wait until the last day. You will spend hours at the dealership but it might be worth it if you can save a few thousand dollars.
