What is the most memorable thing you ate in Europe?

We are headed to Europe soon, so I thought it would be fun to get a little bit of food inspiration ahead of our trip. What is the most memorable meal you ate in Europe, and where did you eat it? (which city or country? Or even restaurant, if you remember.)

For me, it would be a meal we had at a little restaurant right off a fishing port in Santorini. The fried tomato slices that we ate there still haunt me - they were unlike anything I'd ever had before. The red tomatoes were coated in herbs and onions and then battered and fried. We ate them with grilled calamari that was pulled out of the ocean right before our eyes, and greek salad. It was such an incredible meal, and one I can't wait to have again.

Here's a photo of the tomatoes (assuming these links aren't too long):

And here's the squid:

Even the greek salad was dreamy:

Little fresh fish (sardines?) in Portugal that were fried in olive oil and then showered with chopped parsley. So crispy. We ate them whole. Eyes, heads, and tails.

Steak frites from everywhere in Paris. Everything from Laduree!

Fresh, housemade pasta and pesto in Corniglia (Cinque Terre). So simple, so good.

Memorable doesn’t equate with best, you know. On that note, probably a dry graham cake topped with raspberry jello from a bakery in Germany. Definitely not what I was expecting when I ordered. Terrible.
